55 Monk Wintersday Gargoyle Skull Farming
Hello everyone!
This build is made to help you farm Gargoyle Skulls. (above)
You can use these skulls to get Wintersday Items from:
After 20 minutes of farmin on Normal Mode, I had recieved over 25 skulls. The process is quite simple.
You can use the classic 55 Invisible Monk build. For those of you that do not know what it is, here are the attributes and skills.
Attributes:
Healing Prayers: 10+3 (13)
Smiting Prayers: 11+1+3 (15)
Protection Prayers: 7+3 (10)
Divine Favor: 7+3 (10)
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Shield of Judgment[/skill][skill]Blessed Signet[/skill][skill]Blessed Aura[/skill][skill]Mending[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill]
Equipment:
Weapon: Totem Axe
Off-hand: -50hp Grim Cesta, obtained from Cities of Ascalon quest.
*HINT: you can buy both of these in Trade Chat for roughly 7-10k, total. 2-5k for the Totem Axe, 5k for the Grim Cesta.
The Run
Step 1.
Map Travel to Nolani Academy (mission in Post-Searing Ascalon). When there, head north through the portal. Start by casting the last 4 spells, followed by getting your energy up with Blessed Signet.
Step 2.
Now that you are all enchanted up, start by following the path till you see a bunch of gargoyles. Cast Healing Breeze before aggroing. If you feel like you may die, feel free to use Protective Spirit, but the gargoyles hit no more than 3 usually. Go ahead and aggro the first mob. The gargoyles will cast Imagined Burden on you. When this happens, do not stop aggro'ing because you are just wasting your time when you could have gotten another group or two. If you think you can make it to the next mob(s) without losing aggro of the first mob, go right ahead. The gargoyles will cast Cast Shield of Judgment whenever you have all the mobs in a group together. Make sure that you ALWAYS have Healing Breeze up, for every mob you pull. ALWAYS have it up! If you don't have it up, you are as good as having 1 health while fighting Abaddon.
Step 3a.
If you have killed them all, just loot what you want. I usually loot just the Gold, Crafting Materials, Candy Cane Shards, Gargoyle Skulls, and Dyes because all the weapons drops waste inventory space.
Step 3b.
If your Shield of Judgment happens to run out but you have a few Flash Gargoyles left, go ahead and just melee them down. You will hit from 2-7 damage, but they have very little health.
Step 4.
Now it is time to move onto the great mob of greatness, as I like to call it. If you don't feel like you are ready to take on 20-35 gargoyles at once, just aggro them seperately. (maybe over-exaggerated...)
Take a deep breath. Now cast Healing Breeze and Protective Spirit. Start aggroing every single gargoyle up there. Reuse either Healing Breeze or Protective Spirit to get the heal from your Divine Favor points. This will save your butt a whole lot while aggro'ing because you may get down to 5 health.
The run should take rougly 3-5 minutes. You get a lot of skulls when you do this for an hour straight.
Your inventory should look something, on the lines, of this:
I hope you enjoyed my guide. Good Luck at farming!
Sincerely,
Heal N Fifty Fiver
P.S. Merry Christmas to all of you that I gave presents to in Lions Arch - District 2 earlier today (Dec. 27th)

Wtf.......
"Take a deep breath". This "guide" acts as if farming creatures under level 5 is hard. There is no need to post a guide at all, espically as you seem to think this farm is hard.
Seriously, the time you've gone into seems kind of a waste, and seems very slow of the "effort" your putting it.

There's nothing wrong with posting a guide to help other people do an easy farm faster and more efficient, as long as there aren't 20,000 other threads detailing that very thing. If this was a troll cave thread, you might have a point, but there aren't very many threads here for the gargoyles.
Thanks for the guide; even though I prefer to farm with other professions, it looks good. You might add Mystic Regeneration as an optional skill; it can replace Mending and HB easily.

Hmm, it looks nice but there are totally better ways to do it
I've been farming with monk tonight, there is no need for 55hp, just run anything around 500 or so, SoJ, mending, healing breeze, shielding hands, balth spirit, blessed aura, run skill. If you need prot spirit or a 55 build to tank level 8 gargoyles, you need a brain before you try to farm something. Aggro as much as you can, keep in mind that its not worth trying to kill every gargoyle in sight anyway...I typically get about 10-15 in the first group, about 30-50 in the next 2 aggros, depends on spawn, leave whatevers left, takes about 5 min.

The 55 works just fine, I do it but with a W/N instead and SS. I prefer to use a ranger though, but a fire barrage instead of splinter barrage. My route is a little different as I actually end up going a little further. I really don't want to start yet another "How to farm wintersday stuff" thread so I'll post it here. Hope this doesn't offend the op, who posted an excellently detailed guide. Kudos!
Ranger / Elementalist
Attributes
Pretty much anywhere u want them but I have them like this
Fire Magic - 8
Expertise - 10 + 3 + 1
Wilderness Survival - 8 + 1
Marksmanship - 10 + 1
Skills
[skill]Conjure Flame[/skill][skill]Barrage[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill]optional, optional, optional[skill]Troll Unguent[/skill][skill]Storm Chaser[/skill]
For the optional just pick 3 of your favorite dmg dealers.
Equipment: a Firey Bow of Enchanting w/ 15% dmg while enchanted
Template Code: OgYVoQrcVMm1xWsY8FtyTpjx3ccA
I'll see if I can post the route later.

And here is my version:
Fire 16 (12+3+1)
Energy Storage 13 (12+1)
[skill]Rodgort's Invocation[/skill][skill]Fireball[/skill][skill]Liquid Flame[/skill][skill]Flame Djinn's Haste[/skill][skill]Aura of Restoration[/skill][skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Elemental Attunement[/skill][skill]Holy Veil[/skill]
Every attack spell is a one-hit kill, and the Attunements let you spam them as they recharge. Flame Djinn's Haste makes the run faster, Aura of Restoraion provides all the healing you'll need, Holy Veil slows Shatter Gargoyle casting and removes slowdown hexes.
Also, there are tons more gargoyles to the east of the area farmed in this guide. I suggest looping south after point #4, heading east, then back north, then looking around for more and hunting them down - all while speed boosted

Here's my nice and easy build for this farm.
[skill]Flame Burst[/skill][skill]Flame Djinn's Haste[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Aura of Restoration[/skill]
Fire Magic: 16 (12+3+1)
Energy Storage:11 (10+1)
Earth Prayers: 8
It's quite an easy build, agro lots of gargoyles with aura, attunement and mystic up get them into a nice big group then use flame burst to kill them all.
Use djinn's haste to get to each group quicker.(can also use it whilst grouping the gargoyles after agro to speed yourself up a little bit.
Thats all you need for this. My full run goes up the stairs to the top ruins down to the bottom ruins.
Then right before crossing the stone bridge, follow this path round in a circle so that you come out on the other side of the bridge.
Then kill a group of charr and some storm riders before zoning into Ascalon Foothills turning round and doing the run in reverse.
The whole run takes about 15 mins and the least Ive had is 12 skulls the most is 22.
You also get the chance of charr carvins and stormy eyes which can also be exchanged for booze.

Now, he put pretty big effort in making this guide and imo there's no
need to discourage the OP, even if the farm is easy as cheese.
Thanks, Rexion, keep up the good work.

as done before, feel FREE to add your own builds. I would love for people of all classes to know about this run and be able to join in on the fun, too.
A lot of proffesions that need builds still :O

I'm pretty sure you don't need Protective Spirit for level 5 critters... you know
And I could probably do that entire run with [skill]Flare[/skill]

It depends on how many you tank at once.
