Smite Monk Hero(s)/Shards of Orr
Can anyone suggest a good, relatively micromanagement-free smite monk hero build? I would appreciate suggestions on this -- as I really have a hard time with this dungeon (yes, in NM ).
Also, is it best to go with 3 smite Hero monks in Shards or some other Hero combination? If three smite heroes, should they have the same build?
Thanks for any suggestions you can make.

Smite Hex
Smite Condition
Reversal of Damage
Judge's Insight
Castigation Signet
Smiter's Boon
Signet of Judgement
Generic Rez
It is mainly just about the Judge's Insight....changing 30-40 physical damage to 110-130 is pretty brutal.

Thanks very much! I had been using some of the other skills, esp. SoJ, but not Judges' Insight, and was finding the monks don't seem to use these skills very well on their own and -- unfortunately -- I'm not very good at managing Heroes. :/

SOmeone did share this smite monk template code, but I have no idea how to convert it into a template. Can anybody help me "decode" it?

That template is garbage, looks incomplete
Divine Boon
Penetrating Shot
Reversal of Damage
Zealot's Fire
Symbol of Wrath
Those are the only skills that show up on the bar

Yah, I finally figured out all 8 skills -- and the skill Penetrating Shot really makes no sense at all. So much for looking into build suggestions on Wiki... lol
The skills turned out to be:
Divine Boon
Smiter's Boon
Penetrating Shot
Castigation Signet
Smite Condition
Reversal of Damage
Zealot's Fire
Symbol of Wrath

That is indeed an odd build bar =\

Signets are your friends
[skill]Signet of Judgment[/skill][skill]Bane Signet[/skill][skill]Signet of Rage[/skill][skill]Castigation Signet[/skill][skill]Mantra of Inscriptions[/skill]+Optional+Optional+Res
Optionals:
[skill]Reversal of Damage[/skill][skill]Smite Condition[/skill][skill]Smite Hex[/skill][skill]Leech Signet[/skill][skill]Hex Eater Signet[/skill]
Signet of Rage can do nearly 300 damage (294 or 296) to some of the warrior undead (Zombie Brutes iirc)

Thanks. Never even knew about Signet of Rage. Those are some great signets. Signet of Distraction might be something to consider as well, as long as one is going Mo/Me, since it stacks based on the number of signets equipped.

It is garbled, PvXwiki 's decoder gave this translation of OwAS4YIPckqvjx6T9xrPk7B, which looks like a zealot's boon-smiter - but Penetrating Attack could never sit there without ranger as secondary. I'd tuck Judge's Insight there.

Well, that would require putting points into Domination. My build is just 12(plus rune) smiting and 12 inspiration.

I ran the build below last night. I went from getting destroyed in Shards to having foes drop faster than i could target. I just got NF, so my 2 Mo heroes were only lvl 15 and they OWNED the place.

How to win with just heroes and henchies
I ran three smiting monk heroes, spec'd OwUTMU3C15BYSwroErvLh6LTAA. For henchies I brought Mehnlo, Linna, Cyn and Talon. (Talon's feathered ass was a waste, by the way - bring someone else.) The smiters had ZERO mana issues and generally rampaged through enemy ranks like a pantheon of angry gods hopped up on PCP. Between the smiters spamming Signet of Judgment and Cynn's Meteor Showers the enemy was lucky to stay upright long enough to get a spell off. I myself, a warrior, was spec'd OQASEZKTqiXFkPTNLOkiYcwF. I'd run out ahead of the group and take all the hexes and conditions, throwing "I will survive!" as charged into the biggest concentration of mobs. The monks would then throw Smite Hex and Smite Condition on me, and in so doing, would turn everything in my vicinity to ash. If anything was left standing, I'd finish it off with Light of Deldrimor. I had absolutely NO difficulty taking on two or three undead groups at a time and most fights - even large fights - were over in less than 10 seconds. The last fight saw a few casualties, but I managed to kill the boss in seven incarnation. Easy peasy lemmon squeezie. :-) --Malagra 23:10, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

OK, I went to PvXWiki, but I couldn't find the decoder there.
I would like to know what build this "OwUTMU3C15BYSwroErvLh6LTAA" actually is.
For some reason, the GW template UI is NOT letting me load templates this way.
I sometimes wonder if Shards of Orr was designed specifically to finally give Smiting Monks their "day of glory."

I don't blame you, but it did work
I also had a problem with the Pvwiki decode page, but i just took the page he listed and replaced the skills i wanted with the URL between Build=and the &:

Of the three "Master's Difficulty" dungeons, this one is the hardest for me -- and really makes Frostmaw's and Rragar's seem fairly easy in comparison.

thats nearly indentical to the build I tested on one of my heroes yesterday for the.. uhm, forgot the name of it, dungeon. Its in the Charr homeland city. hm, well anyway, there were a LOT of undead and it did work very well. I only had one smiter tho... I raged on Shards of Orr last time I tired it but now, I think i'll try again with two Signet Simter monks.

If you really want to see a bomb, set this up:
2 barrage rangers with sundering deathbane bows
1 N/Mo with judges insight, great dwarf weapon, and order of pain.
Get your tank to round them up, then put judges and GDW on your 2 barrage rangers. Hit orders and prepare to see the entire group drop from 1 barrage each. I've seen barrage numbers as high as 400 when the sundering kicks in, when you see yellow numbers like that its pretty cool Oh, and customize your bow - 20% of 300 is +60 damage.
