Smiter monk hero
I was curious what a good smiting build for a hero would be for Shards of Orr. I dug around and didnt see anything for that. I dont really want a hybrid I am looking for them to provide large amts of unholy damage

I would suggest loading all hero monks (and yourself, if you're a monk) up with [wiki]Ray of Judgment[/wiki] and microing a huge 'omgwtf' damage spike, since the undead in that dungeon are very obliging little fellows who all stand together in a nice tight group.

Surely you mean Holy Damage. Un-Holy Damage would defeat the object

TRUE TRUE, holy damage is indeed what I meant. I just always dread going into Shards, and am going to do it HM soon, didnt know if an easy button type smite build on a hero would be something out there

[skill]signet of judgment[/skill][skill]signet of rage[/skill][skill]bane signet[/skill][skill]reversal of damage[/skill][skill]smite condition[/skill][skill]smite hex[/skill][skill]mantra of inscriptions[/skill][skill]arcane mimicry[/skill]
This works extremely well if you have 2 or more smiting heros. You can give one hero ray of judgment instead, but I found the short recharge of soj with mantra of inscriptions to be more reliable.

Very nice, that is about what I had thought about, but didnt know how many others had put somethign together for heros. The great part about signets is that they have a much harder time f'n up their energy =]

Yeah, with that they can spam reversal of damage till their hearts content, and their energy is fine. And rod being spammed by 4 monks is extremely effective at reducing pressure, as well as the df heals from smite condition and hex.
I initially tried giving them arcane echo, arcane mimicry, and ray of judgment, but they ran out of energy and the rod spamming stopped.

I find 3x arcane echo + ray of judgment darn near insta-kills most of the mobs in shards of orr. Toss on a couple of signets and whatever else you feel like to round out the builds.

Auto pilot hero smiter, infinite energy, direct dmg smite, high hp: one minor smite rune, sup vigor, + 60hp staff, survivor insignia on all parts + 3 vitae runes:
14 in smite, 12 in inspiration:
- Signet of judgment
- Banish
- Castigation Signet
- Bane signet
- Signet of rage
- Spear of Light
- Leech Signet
- mantra of inscriptions
mesmer smite: 14 inspiration, 12 in smite, 4 in fast casting (Artificer's insignia: +3 armor for each signet equipped)
- Signet of judgment or Keystone signet as elite
- Bane signet
- Signet of rage
- Castigation Signet
- Spear of light
- Leech Signet
- mantra of inscriptions
- Res Sig or another interupt signet from the domination line just for the interupt + armor from insignias
You can mix in: reversal of dmg, smite hex and smite condition, depending on your taste.

I used to run that kind of bar, and from what I can say it works very well. I'd throw in judge's intervention for the final boss.
