A serious question. This really isn't a joke.
I've been playing Guild Wars for close to three years, now. I play strictly in PvE, as does the extremely small guild that I'm a part of.
Recently, one of my guildmates decided that it would be a good idea to turn Ogden into some sort of hybrid Minion Master/healer, and no, I haven't seen the skill bar that she's using.
My question is this: has anyone, anywhere out there, ever heard of/thought of/considered using a Monk hero in that manner? Like I said, I don't know what skills she's using, and I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Is there any way that that could be anything other than sheer stupidity?

Well i would say thats pretty stupid. A monk wouldnt have enough energy to both MM and heal anything at the same time. A necro with minions however could prolly carry a some form of healing or prot spells (a necro could also pick /rt and take someting from there instead). Which I belive would be far greater.

I'm going to say no to the question

My big problem with a Monk minion master is e-management.

lol that is a bit silly and i dnt believe your guildmate could pull off a successful build monks simply would not have enough energy to create minions and heal them. But im not one to stop peeps from experimenting so meh Besides peeps who start EoTN only have ogden and vekk unless they play throgh the game So perhaps thats the reason why ur guildmate created the build. But as i said i dnt think it could ever replace the Necro.

I know for a fact that she has Master of Whispers. I did the Bastion mission with her. And her Master of Whispers is a Minion Master, too.
And she isn't just looking for a Minion Master who can heal their minions. She's expecting him to monk for the -party-, on top of raising minions.

you can turn an N/RT into a Hybrid MM/Healer (discordway uses two of those);
but a monk doesn't have the e-management to do something like that

A monk minion master would be as fail as a warrior with energy attack skills and meteor shower.
Seriously, there's no way a monk can have the energy management to be a minion master and heal/prot your party.

Not necro primary = cannot raise Death Magic over 12 = never have a full-size group of minions. OK, so everything but N/x is already a second-rate MM, just on that basis alone, IMHO. Add the e-mgmt woes of an AI healing monk on top of that second-rate MM starting point, and you've got a really, really bad idea.

I have heard of this, someone used Dunkoro to run a MM/Healer.... that guy failed.
Monks don't have the energy, hell, Ritualists barely have the energy, and they make minions last longer thanks to spawning power. MM belongs to Necromancers, and in rare cases Ritualists.
Hell, every type of caster belongs to a necromancer team (if you have a MM or MB, you can run a full necro team with infinite energy, go whatever caster secondary you want and you'd be able to replace them).

You sure she's not trying to use Og as a stopgap MM until she can get Olly or Liv? Assuming this is a new character, of course.
Something like a sabway necro/monk in reverse?
Rather than him actually trying to heal the party and raise minions.
Otherwise, no, I don't see how it would work.

I'm positive that's not what she's using him for. She is -specifically- using him to raise minions and heal. She even complains about how he doesn't heal -quite- so well as a minion master. -_-

Visit the necro forums.
As scary as this sounds - those guys WILL try to prove you wrong ...

You should really point her to the countless monk and necromancer guides on wiki +here. That build concept really doesn't work, and really never will. You cant expect to be shelling out 10e on recharge for new minions with only 4 regen and no soul reaping

Maybe I'lll try doing that, and see if she can learn some things from them that she never did from me. >.< Although I'm pretty sure she'll threaten to gut me if she sees -this- thread.

If thats the case she probably wont ever listen, even to the general non troll population of Campfire/Necromancer.If it comes to it, get the build/s off her and post them in Necromancer and 9/10 you'll end up with a working template and be able to pass them on plus explain better where shes going wrong
Edit: Obviously noting that the primary profession needs to be N/ and why
