i also hear roj scatters combined with arcane echo.
when you cast roj without arcane, mobs don't shatter.
but finally i can UWSC without having a perma sin or necro...
Good job!

A few points about why they might have scattered...
1) Hard Mode
2) The Teambuild I was testing used 2 PermaSins and 6 RoJ Smiters all using [Arcane Mimicry][Arcane Echo][Ray of [email protected]]["By Ural's Hammer!]
One RoJ generally didn't cause scatter, but a 2nd or 3rd usually broke aggro.

The first group of aatxe (on the right as you leave the spawn point) I usually don't block. On the runs we've done, 2 RoJs haven't done a thing to them besides kill them. I'll try to remember to take a screenshot on our next run. And then I'll try it without bodyblocking them, for all you sceptics.

Im not doubting u - u kno me , but its stated and backed up that any aoe in hm scatters as anet updated hm ai ages back .hell even sliver can cause scatter an i never knu that was classed as aoe.
Rarely do i see non scatter in hm - few times on raptor runs when goofed an mobbed in the open and somehow no1 ran from sliver.
From what i recall the hm ai tends to scatter under 2 circumstances - most aoe in fast bursts - say 3x aftershock .... but they also can scatter when hp drops a set % .
Could be a case of they not getting time to split from low hp an dying fast or another unknown element.
May also be a case they were too thick to move - makes a change from too clever ( like foes off radar deciding to come and find you no matter what and chasing you - no wait karoli stuck a damn kill me ! sign on my back again )

^ When foes run from sliver, its because their health is dropping and they move away to regen.

Just checked Roj on wiki and i have the reason for karolis statement of it not causing spread -
Wiki states it has a bug
The AI does not recognize this as an area of effect, damage over time spell.
Now do they mean its a constant bug or one of the once in a while bugs ?
So it cud be 50/50 if u get the bug or not and karoli is a lucky bugger :P

From what I've noticed,it seems to be all the time. We often use RoJ on our vanquishes and such, and we haven't seen scatter from it.

Will Give me a change from the Mo/A pits build (;
The only problem I'm finding is no-one is accepting me in Pugs. They're like NO N/RT NO PLAY HF GL.

RoJ is bugged and doesn't cause scatter, not in HM as well. When anet finds out and nerfs RoJ will be a lot less fun. [earthen shackles] say hi.

That could work. Or you could just use a terra vale with [grasping earth] or [ward against melee].

^ I'd be willing to show you in game. Just don't expect to spectate,I'll be telling you what to do and whatnot,of course it all depends on whether I can find a Chamber sin or not.

whats hard about running an roj build in uw? the vale sin pings a target and u kill it. easy. btw, if u want some decent builds id suggest pugging uw more cos the last build i saw on this forum had heal (wasted slots, the sin doesn't need any extra heal) and generally too litle damage, smite condition etc. but to summarise, go pug. any decent vale sin will force u to take a decent build

how is this build comparable to the N/Rt in terms of speed and safety? (assuming youre running with the average vale pug sin) The build seems much easier to use so it would be more noob friendly.

There are 2 types of ai scatter:
One is caused by pusling aoe's such as firestorm. In these cases the ai moves away from the center of the pulse and as such it very difficult to bodyblock these. Both melee and ranged ai are affected by this scatter. Despite being a pulsing aoe, RoJ does not cause this scatter which is its greatest pve strength and the reason that rayway works so well with a human bodyblocker.
The other is caused by having more than 3 melee creatures at low health. When this triggers, the ai will try to move away in a clockwise spiral which is easy to bodyblock. Ranged creatures do not exhibit this behaviour. This effect you're seeing with RoJ, and it has nothing to do with it being a pulsing aoe (other than the fact that its bringing multiple creatures to low health simultaneously).
