Just picked my monk back up after a break, but due to bad timing and schedule conflicts with guildies :P been hittin the old h&h with this::
(so i DO still play my monk, after a fashion :
A-scan
Mystic sweep
Erimites attack
Zealous sweep
BUH!
Strength of honour
Aura of Holy Might
Zealous vow(e)
Running a 20/20, 15^50, +30 destroyer scythe (bought for hom, so i thought id use it for something :P) and a deldrimore shear? +1/-1 +15^50 +30..and some blessed sigs.
Speccing Scythe mastery, smiting and wind prayers (dont recall what spread i settled on tho :P) Its a good laugh and stuff assplodes pretty quick...i know its far from optimal, yano...as its on a monk but meh! at least i dusted her off for a while!!
*really only enjoy the backline aspect of monking with REAL ppl :P hammer of dawn is sooo passe, and AP is a little dull and samey :P*

I still play my Monk occasionally, but I'm focusing on knocking out everything on my Warrior. Almost 5 years in and I still haven't done everything I want to do with him yet.
Considering I started my Monk solely as a means to farm 55, I actually enjoy playing him as a Hybrid as well as running Smite Support and still doing 55.

Monk is all I play, as a healers, none of this gimmick crap. I also use most of the elites for monk, and rarely use HB or UA. The key is to have fun and people using ER eles for healers have lost the point of playing in the 1st place

I haven't monked in a while, because of poor internet connection.
I play a mean 4v4 monk, but I've little experience in HA/GvG so I probably won't get many teams as monk anyway.

Still monking on occasion when there's a good ZB/ZM/Wanted going on. Did Selves the other day with my standard Aura of Faith setup. Was fun as heck and went pretty much without any problems.
Over the last week or two, I did decide to try out Dismiss Condition finally. It took awhile to get used to, and I will say it has so far taken up a position in my build.

I treat my monk as my main sometimes. I mostly use a ranger or monk and there are times when I just wanna play my monk all day. I thought I would never be good at monking, but now I am and it's enjoyable and active

My monk has nearly 23 million exp at this point. It's all i ever play. I try some other professions from time to time, but those toons always get deleted after a short wile because i'm just so specialized in monking and get frustrated when i can't heal my party. Hanging back making other puggers feel skilled is my thing. The worse the players, the more i'm having fun.
And yet, i'm glad there wont be monks in GW 2 because they are just too essential in this game.

That is the reason I won't be playing GW2 as I would like to see them.

This thread is pretty depressing reading. Whenever I talk to fellow Zealots in Warhammer who've also played GuildWars, they get wistful for the Monk. I'd like to level a character from beginning to end of Factions, then EotN and the other campaigns. I'd thought about doing it on a monk. Is this a bad idea?

If you're playing by yourself I wouldn't recommend it. You can certainly beat anything in GW with a monk, but relying on your heroes to kill stuff without your targeting direction is frustrating. Even smiting is better really as a support build with strength of honor and smite hex/condition etc firing off of melee toons.
