I run dagger and scythe builds on my Monk because I'm bad at Guild Wars.

Monks seem to be getting less and less popular with all the different styles of healing and protection these days, I have pretty much shifted to the Ritualist and Paragon classes for protection and healing.
IMHO the only useful Monk in the current state of GW is the smiter.
I think Anet forgot all about the Monks with their skill buffing of the other classes when it comes to healing and protection.

Maybe a few hours a month and then it is only a modified AP build or smite build. Have always had a tough time getting into them. I have a feeling it was because he was a factions character. I think if I would have started him in prophecies I would have a better feeling for the healing aspect at least. I have beaten all campaigns with him just hard to dust him off for me.

With my Guildies, I run a UA healer build. If I'm on my own though, I run a Smiter's ROJ build...

As already mentioned, monk is slowly losing it`s place in GW. If i need prot, i`ll go as ST rit and if i need heal, i`ll go as E/Mo ER infuser. So, daggers and scythe doesn`t seem like a bad idea after all. Other than that, monks are still useful as ua or hb in doa. Or as Mo/P smiters/runners in JQ.
I hope when GW2 comes out, skills will be extra-fine tuned, so no buffs-nerfs or other kind of bs won`t destroy the game as it happened with GW. When first nerf happened, it spelled doom on the future of the game. So, please Anet, just take your time, fine tune the skills, do excellent balancing job, and no more buff/nerf bs in the future, ok? Or i`m moving to LotRO for good. And i probably won`t be the only one fed up with your incompetence to fine tune the game. Oh, and i don`t give a wooden nickel about your deadlines, or any other in-company matters. I want a damn good product and if you can`t make it happen, than there are other choices out there that can.
All this ranting is primarily bcs i love my monk, did so much with her, just so it collects virtual dust now. GW is starting to suck big time.

They have already stated that there will NOT be a dedicated healing profession in GW2. I might be taking this wrong, but to me that means no monks.

Monks do seem to be less popular nowadays, with 'most' people opting to use N/Rt Rt/x N/Mo or ER healers.
Still interested to see how they're giong to incorporate their ideas into Gw2 though.

Haven't really thought of it, but my main used to be a monk for 3 years. Now I tend to play Rit mostly and haven't played monk for almost a year. Somehow his 'services' doesn't seem as wanted as it used to be. You could go almost anywhere and good monks were always in demands. If you go now you're probably more of a relic.

At least not in the way we have them now. Who knows they might make an ACTUAL monk who uses prayers and martial arts to deal damage...

No dedicated healers. This saddens me as I always play support classes. Hope it doesn't turn out to be too bad. I was looking forward to healing in Gw2.

I still use my Monk is RA (it's 50/50 between my Warrior and my Monk; though I do very rarely play other profession when I hit extreme bordom).
Free glad points says "hi"?

Dedicated healers=/=monk
Hell, smite monk alone blows that belief out the window.

PVE:
Maybe on occasion i would run an AP based smiter with pve goodies thrown in, or some roj crap.....
But usually, id just run an AP boon prot/AP hybrid, as the perma seeds/aegis/soa + cheap ps+sb is about the only thing that comes close to matching the broken templates of ER infooze or even ST communer (for party wide prots)
note1: i dont like to play a lame redbar pusher like hb+hp or ua+hd/dh everyone pug wants prot is king
note2: not much reason to play a classic monk hybrid bar when others (see:Er infoozer) do it better and easier for the most part
And hell, a rit/mo with channeling or a nec/mo with orders probably does a better job smiting too now..(well the useful support/buff parts of smiting...)
note3: my monk is collecting dust now, and has been for 6 months when it comes to using with players, and probably 18 months with heroes
PVP:
Occasional fooling around in RA/AB only these days, gone are the times of gvg and ha.. fell out of favor with higher level of pvp.. more to kill time and have a giggle with friends

I play monk because I already have one. They are solid healers and have amazing protection skills. ER infuse tires me fast with endless spam.

55'ing works better out there, doesn't? I may be wrong; I'm not a farmer, I accumulated all my of wealth via power trading.

For guildstuff i still monk. I just don't like monking H/H so i almost never play it.
Then again, i hardly play at all, because i hate H/H in general. I only play if there's at least 3 other guildies to join.

i really only ever played my monk to do 600/smite farming or 55 farming. I never liked doing the whole red bar game of healing so now that anet took away fro the most part my 600/smite farming, i only take it out to 55 farm. And really since just about every 55 farm can be done by a 330 ele... well my monk really now only gets used to smite(again its debateable but i say ele nuking is better so eles win again).
so yea monk used to be one of my more used classes.. now i dont ever touch them because really healing is a drag and 600/smite is gone(or replaced with 330 rits) and 55 farming can be done by 330 eles/rits.

In HM it's not debatable. Smite monks are better.
