Help with PvE Mesmer in UW FoW
Have read the Sticky aswell .
I finished the game with a Mesmer quite a few ago and now i'm playing with my monk in UW-FoW, but well , sometimes a bit of change is good and would like to get back to my Mesmer.
Reading in this forums i've seen several main builds, but almost all of them are PvP or the non UW - FoW one. I've never played with my Mesmer there and realize that the difficulty is one step higher, and that my builds sucks.
I see too that a Fragility build or energy denial build or whatever build is quite straightfoward, since there is a great variety of mobs to fight, and I'm not sure if it's going to work down there ( if i find a group to play down there).
But I think Mesmers are very needed , although noone takes them, and one of my top 5 PUG-s there (I as monk always) had 2 Mesmers .
What build do you use there?. What are your impressions?. The huge possibilites of this class makes me think twice of what to bring down there and, well, i don't want to be useless since every man is needed.

I hear shatter hex is sweet with with Echo since everything uses hex's and it ignores armor reduction.

I'll second this. Hex removal is important for FoW. Shadow beasts love stacking mark of pain and spiteful spirit all over your group and it can be pretty painful with the right combo of enemies. Shadow Warriors/Rangers use hundred blades and barrage respectively which can take huge chunks out of multiple people if those shadowbeasts get several Mark of Pains up on your party.

for UW (not sure about FoW) epidemic or the other spell that spreads conditions would be good since the monsters always attack in groups EXAMPLE: so if you have a warrior that makes and aataxe bleed epidemic would spead that....

For UW, carry Ineptitude + Epidemic on your regular Mesmer build. (All the different Mesmer builds will be useful at *some* point down there, but you'll get a lot of mileage out of constant group blinds.) If your regular build has high dominate, I'll note that this is one of the few areas you'll be able to use Chaos Storm to good effect.
For FoW, you'll definitley want Inspired Hex, Shatter Hex, Backfire and a general interrupt build. ICURADik is correct that Echo can be very very good down there, but I've also had success with both Power Block and Energy Drain.
In any case, don't ever expect to be invited into a PUG because people are completely stupid, and they'll never, ever know what you're doing anyway. They'd much rather take 3 elementalists and 3 monks and be completely owned rather than take a profession that could actually make a difference in either zone.
But...good luck in your quest!

The other people's suggestions are good. I will add that if one of the rangers in the group can be bothered to take winter or greater conflag. since it will make mark of pain not work since it is then elemental. I play a me/e who is earth ele most of the time so ward against elements goes well with that then ^^ I always lead any group to uw/fow and will not leave unless I have at least 1 of each class. I also kick anyone who even says the word "nuker" or thinks it is dumb to look for a necro or mesmer :-)
