My build above has Rsig
And beast mastery is the worst thing on the planet...
-30dps due to pet
-cheap, reuseable interrupts
-does not stop character from attacking...
-etc
Pet+disrupting lunge>blackout
And run that by me again where +33% attack speed is worthless on an IW character?

You also have to consider that having your pet snared reduces you to only using IW, whereas if you had spells you could still cause some havoc.

But who really uses snare on pets ^_~?
I also noted that you could have conjure in the utility slot (two main reasons actually, one to do something IF IW gets disenchanted, 2 to kill running people)
Ironically it is harder to disenchant if you have a cover, such as illusion of haste or as suggested using visage.
The problem with spells is that you have to cast them, and each second you spend casting costs you 1 second of slashing with IW, which is turn about 44~ damage.

I've seen people snare my pet, far more common is for spiteful spirit to be placed on the pet and utterly devastating.

Then have you and the pet go after different targets, lock down one with disrupting and kill the other.

I used to have an IW mesmer back in the early days of GW, but i deleted him *cries.* I started up another mesmer, currently level 10, and I was going to make him another IW mesmer. However, after reading this post I am not sure this is a good idea, and maybe i should follow the path of domination and the likes. Is it worth it to form an IW mesmer, or just a waste of time?
I plan on HoH and guild battling with him, if that makes a difference.

Yes IW is a waste of time, at the moment, who's to say that it won't be fixed with the March 7 update, or with the coming of factions? But Mesmer's are fun to play, and no one's saying you can't switch to IW mesmer for some random and wilely enjoyment from time to time.

IW in guild battles and HoH is not a good idea. He's decent in TA or RA if you know how to make one properly, but he doesn't have the damage output to last in 8v8.

70 dps in a 4-4 is hard to beat, but an iway with necro backup will beat it anyday

Are you playing them correctly?
Are you disrupting their disenchants?
Are you avoiding their slows?
Are you using a cover enchantment?
So many things can go wrong with this build if you do not use it correctly, and it takes awhile to get the hang of it.
