Mesmer Solo - Star Ancient Koosun
It's time to put your mesmer to good use (assuming they've been to Imperial Sanctum)
Alright, so I tried out the n/r solo build for this and it was pretty good, but I had so much trouble with the running I got to aggravated to keep trying it. So.... I decided to make a new build for farming Koosun that makes the running really easy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Armor: Enchanters Set
Weapon: Preferably one that makes enchants last longer. Personally I use a Insightful Zodiac Staff of Enchanting. Energy +5, Halves Skill Recharge of Spells (10%), and Enchantments last 19% longer. A totem axe would also work
Stats
Illusion Magic: 12+1+3=16
Shadow Arts: 12
Fast Casting: 3+1=4
Skill Bar
Shadow Form {e}
Arcane Echo
Shadow Refuge
Dark Escape
Death's Charge
Dash
Conjure Phantasm
Conjure Nightmare
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the run!
Exit out of Imperial Sanctum into Raisu Palace (Explorable Area). Go straight past Kuunvang (make sure you don't talk to her since you don't want the celestial skill) and keep running until you see stairs on your left. A bit back from the stairs should be a group of Shiroken. Get as close as you can without aggroing them than cast Arcane Echo followed by Shadow Form. Immediatly after use Deaths Charge on one of the enemies and than Dash. Keep running and you'll come upon another group of Shiroken, use Dark Escape. Around this time your first shadow form should be about to end, when it blinks cast the second shadow form (the one you echoed) and keep running. Now you have passed 2 groups and a 3rd one should be coming up. This 3rd group should be avoidable but if it's in your way run past it than break aggro with Dash. Run a bit further and you'll be in a free space (a downward angled ramp). Stop and rest, the 2nd shadow form will end and it will take away all but 41 of your health! Don't panic though, just use shadow refuge to heal back up to full. Now run down the ramp, there should be a group of shiroken there. Simply use arcane echo > shadow form > deaths charge > dark escape to get past that group. Once you've gotten clear of that group you should see a blue portal with a boss up ahead (monk I believe). Wait before that group until shadow form and arcane echo are recharged. Than cast arcane echo > shadow form and run past them with dash. Run up the stairs and a few steps further than take a left and use dark escape up the ramp. After that you can take a right and you'll find yourself next to a Rez Portal. This is your next rest point. Just stay there until everything is recharged. Once everything is recharged, run forward and you should see the Kin warrior boss. Cast arcane echo > shadow form > dash to run past him, you'll be in a main room now with a bunch of enemies. Just run diagonal to the corner next to Koosuns room and you shouldn't aggro anyone! (see radar image below) Ta-da the run part is complete
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here comes the easy part! Killing Koosun. Run up near the wall where koosun is (koosun is on the other side of the wall). Now cast conjure phantasm +conjure nightmare. Since the wall is in between you and Koosun, she will not attack you. This leaves you free to conjure her to death.
*Note don't be casting conjures every 4 seconds b/c you will quickly run out of energy. Instead cast one at a time, or cast both at the same time and than conjure phantasm by itself when they wear off, than both again. Just mix it up .
Once you have succesfully killed Koosun with your "ub3r 1337" degen, cast shadow form, run in and pick up the spoils! The run is now complete
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special notes:
Koosuns Fire Staff goes for about 25-35k
Sorry about the images and such but I'm hosting them with photobucket and it loves to resize my images
Comments, questions, constructive criticism (lol) is welcomed. Also if you are having problems with this farm feel free to contact me in-game (Apocalyptic Shadow)
Enjoy!

It works great. Phantom is my brother so i rolled with him on a couple runs. I just ran along and watched and its a great build. The boss never attacks directly as long as you are behind the wall. Just a flat out amazing build for this farming run.

Here's something I was discussing last night with some people. Apparently degening isn't really considered "attacking" or some crap like that. And as you know if a boss dies and you're not attacking... well nothing drops . Anyways I've noticed that the 3 times that it did drop I was taking dmg from famine (since you're casting spells while taking dmg i assume this would register you as "attacking"). Furthermore, I've never got the staff if I didn't take dmg from famine.
So... my suggestion would be to make sure you are behind the wall but in the range of famine, start attacking Koosun and when your energy get's close to 0, switch back and forth between your regular weapon and a low energy set. This will cause famine to do constant dmg to you (make sure you don't overdue it and kill yourself) and in my belief, will cause you to have a better chance of getting the staff!
*Note: This is my theory and for all I know could be completly untrue but hey, might as well try
Cheers

I did about 4 runs with this build, then tried to switch it up to make it faster. I tried to run shatter enchant, but his song of the mists would heal him and the conjure just wasen't enough to get him to cast sliver armor. I then put in wastels, and on the first run I got the staff. Wastel's takes a bit longer, Especially with only 4 into dom (I took out the FC). I am thinking about taking one out of illusion or shadow and uping the wastel's damage.
Edited: My atts are: 3+1 FC, 11+4 Illusion, 8+1 Dom, 11 Shadow Arts

Lets see if I can remember the one I used- it's probably a bit faster. (though not on the drops lol)
Me/R
atts - 16 ill, 10 or so in Insp, 7-8 in Wilderness 3-4 in FC (its been a while since I ran this one- that's a rough guess off the top of my head)
Stormchaser
Troll Unquent
Distortion
Mantra of Persistence
Phantom Pain
Conjure Nightmare
from here it's personal taste - depends on your EM preference to some degree
choose from shatter, inspired or drain enchant, energy drain, leech sig, power drain etc
you can use Images of Remorse or Wastrels to trigger the deep wound or go with shatter
Basically it goes like this -
acquire target
MoP (keep this up always)
Phantom Pain
Nightmare
drain/shatter/inspire/leech
PP ending deep wound delivered
IoR - trigger deep wound
cycle through again and it's usually goodnight Koosun
Key point is to deliver the deep wound, keep the degen at -10, and interupt/deny/remove his enchnants while maintaining your energy levels. MoP is critical to extending the degen and speeding up the process.
You are attacking once you have applied the deep wound if that is a concern.
Like I said, it's been a while since I went "soul stone farming" but I found the listed skill set to be quite effective. Using troll, storm and distortion, you should also be able to keep yourself alive for little chest run after Koosun chokes on it. With a little modification Kai can be dropped as well. I think I was dropping the Assasin boss to using shackles SV and PR with most of the above.
I realize I should add weapon set suggestions - for running I carry a -2/+45 stance shield
For Koosun I alternate btw a 79 energy set and Talous staff (another fun one to farm)
feel free to contact me if you are having trouble with this build

This is what i usualy use with my mesmer when killing Koosun
Me/E
1: Armor of Mist
2: Mist Form {E}
3: Illusion of Pain
4: Mantra of Persistence
// Energy Management //
5: Drain Enchantment
6: Kitah's Burden
// Fillers //
7: Accumulated Pain
8: Phantom Pain
.:| Attributes |:.
14 Illusion [-10 degen from Illusion of Pain]
14 Inspiration [95% longer Illusion hexes]
9 Water Magic
rest fast casting
Using +1 illusion head with superior Illusion rune
and using a superior Inspiration rune to get 14 Inspiration
Once you are @ Koosun, just have MoP up always when you cast Illusion of Pain. and you must always cast Illusion of Pain when its recharged. otherwise Koosun will be healed. Cast Drain enchant and Kitah's burden for energy, won't be that hard. Once Koosun is dead, cast Mist form and go in and loot

It looks like the August 17 update made farming Koosun much more difficult, if not impossible. I've used the me/a build to farm Koosun's Fire Staff several times, however since this update, he's been attacking the instant I cast a spell, and the other Shiro'ken monsters are appearing as soon as my aggro bubble touches him.
The same goes for Sword Ancient Kai, he now aggros and his group of Shiro'ken appear as you approach.

Yeah, it was funny, I ran in there to pick up a chest and was thinking "something is different today", that was when Kai and his mob rushed me and kicked my butt.

You might want to double check that. Kai rushes you and his mob will spawn the instant you are near his spawn (Just like other bosses in Raisu). Same goes for Koosun. If you try to kill them from behind the wall, the mob will spawn and the monk will heal him.
