yeah, efven with a lot of fast casting it's over 2 seconds to apply both, everyone should've canceled attacking by than. Sometimes you can get lucky with an ineptitude or clumsiness but against a decent war maybe 1 in 10 actually resolves on the war (or they just hit through it, us heal sig and bash on).

lol what do u mean becoming? theve always been good at PvP, heh i remeber the good old days, standing at the back looking pretty, a warrior rushing out monk, empathy, spirit shackles, mind wrack, and then echod energy burn, = dead W even before the he realised what was going on, pity theve made Hexes easier to remove nower days but still; Mesmers ftw!

Mesmers have always been highly effective in PvP.
Mesmers have become quite possibly more effective in Nightfall.

Has anyone tried using Glyph of Sacrifice to prep a hex like empathy, diversion or backfire?
From my practicing on the training island masters, a prep'd diversion appears to increase the casting time when I throw it on a 1 second cast while it's casting.

And disable a hex like diversion for 30 seconds when it shines the most when being spammed?

The other two hexes are just near useless.

Oh I was thinking that it could be echo'd if you want to spam it.
I just figured that people were saying that when they see diversion cast on them they just wait until it runs out and was trying to see if it could be used so fast that there's no way they could avoid it's nastiness.
It's one of those hexes that if someone has you targeted can see it coming very easily. It telegraphs itself and that bothered me. Even with the mes having 16 Fast Casting you can see them casting diversion and react accordingly.
Was just an idea. I'm sure not an original one, but I am learning.

Mantra of Recovery is a better elite if you want to spam diversion.

Even then, it still has some effect since the monks have to wait for diversion to wear off.

That's how it does work, I'm saying that diversion is still useful since monks have to stop and do nothing while waiting for the hex to go away (if hex removal is not available)

Any caster has to either a) stop casting b) wait for hex removal c)get a skill diverted when Diversion lands on them. Diversion spammer is one of the simplest mesmers to play. Interruption is a pain in the behind though and often relies just as much on your hardware and latency as it does on your human reaction time. (Ie - A sluggish PC or ISP/internet connection can render you useless at interrupting if you get "late" information which makes you miss the interrupt.)

Of course the counter to this would be an enchant removal before casting. But then a counter to that would be a cover enchant. In the end, the more observant player wins.

Dropping veil counts as "waiting for hex removal" since it's not instantaneous. You have to double-click veil to cancel it (or CoP it off) and it still requires action on your part in order to remove the hex.

Mesmers were always powerful in PvP characters, mostly as disruption and assist spike (by Spiritual Pain). So yes, NF has given the Mesmer something.

The counter to that is letting you do it all you want. If you want to sac a pip of regen for it go ahead - you're doing the mesmers job for it.

I think hexes like diversion can be spammed effectively but really shine when you know what you're looking for. Counting recharges for particular skill will let you diversion almost anything you want off of a skill bar. If that foe is using holy veil, just add two seconds to normal timing and you'll hit what you're looking for

what i love about mesmers is you can do such a broad range of things with them. you can create a build to specifiacly target another profession or build and they wont stand a chance. with the inept+clumsiness thing, all you do is let the warrior or whatever actually hit you once or twice and then put it on him so he has no time to react. from my expirience with that build ive found that 90% of whoever your putting inept+clumsiness on will just keep attacking anyway. i even had a thumper run up to me and use frenzy and i casted ineptitude on him and it did like 280 damage..lets just say he died =)

I just read that description. It's a little cloudy, but if you finish casting diversion on a target while they are activating their skill, it 'will' get diverted. (but there's like a weird 1/4 second of immunityif you cast diversion too late in the activation) That note on Gwiki states that if diversion runs out before the enemy finishes casting a skill, that skill will still be diverted.

Bah, it's possible to pull off an endless chain of counters. The point, is that the Mesmer will still come out on top :P.
