The builds I posted were a result of my brainstorming about SoI. They may not be very effective, but can be fun to play. As Redfeather pointed out, some people don’t have all professions. SoI can allow you to take on almost any role you want. Yes, you will not be very effective at it, but the point is that you can enjoy playing it. Btw Reafeather, I liked the Me/Rt builds you posted.

So far, I think that Me/E with SoI is probably the best of the four builds I posted. I saw some top gvg guilds using a modified version of it.

SoI works only on spells. I wonder if SoI builds can benefit from R, A, W skills or rituals

Here are some possibilities:

FC: 12 + 1
Illusion: 12 + 1 + 3
Inspiration: 3 + 1 (for some Mantra)

FC: 3 + 1
Illusion: 12 + 1 + 3
Other Attribute: 9
Other Attribute: 9

FC: 3 + 1
Illusion: 12+ 1 + 3
Other Attribute: 12

While my builds may be not very good, I do believe SoI has some utility. I just wanted the community to be aware of some SoI possibilities. I hope someone will come up with new creative SoI builds.

really i think the best use for the skill is a fast cast illusion/necro curse build or for fun a thievery build

Personally I think SoI is most useful with Arcane Mimicry.

Thievery based build can be something like this:

Me/Mo Illusory Thief

Fast Casting: 12 + 1
Illusion: 12 + 1 + 3

Sigent of Illusions
Arcane Mimicry
Inspired Hex
Inspired Enchantment
Heal Party
Arcane Thievery
Energy Tap
Res Chant

This is hypothetical - I have not tested it yet.

You're mistaking something that can work for something that does work. People often think that because some skills work together they must be really good. However it often doesnt work like that, shown with most of you're builds.

Celestial, it was suggested a few times in another forum that some SOI builds will do very well if you bring along Symbolic Celerity. Now you can put all your points in FC and Illusion if you wish to allow lvl 16 spells to be cast quite quickly or you can just use SOI on Symbolic Celerity and put points in something else such as Inspirition.
I've been very busy lately from work, and unfortunately will be well into next year, but I intend to try all of these and start messing around with SOI again someday. Hopefully something really sweet will be found.

Combo it with a ferverborn staff for a leet 17 seconds aegis. It helps against melee pressure a lot. Balthazar Aura last what it used to last, and can be devastating. Inspired Enchantment to steal another aegis and combo aegis with yourself lol. And lacerny to steal anything usefull or dangerous, or anything you can toy with if you can spare energy. The long recharges will be fine with the -1 energy pip.

wow... never thought of using it with Blessed Aura. that's really nice...

Yes, Symbolic Celerity can be useful. I'll try to incorporate in into some SoI builds. One silly idea I tried the other day was FC Smiter
