All Mesmer FoW - The Return
All mes Fow
Back In January of this year a few of us mesmers did a few test runs to see if we could clear the Fissure of Woe with an all mesmer team. After being plagued with Err7, lack of time and a small thing called Factions it was time for a return to see how far we could go.
The Players were
Me/E fast cast dom with Meteor Shower(my usual fow build)
Me/Rt Geraldine Griffiths Blinds and illusion
Me/E Gwen Starlight - Wards and Dom
Me/N Ptah Imhotep Set - BIP/BR
Me/Mo Sanra Springleworth - Heal/prot hybrid
Me/E Black Guinivere - fast cast nuker
Me/Mo Dana De Nerian - Heal Prot Hyrbid
Me/E Laura Fantus - fast cast nuker
Note the lack of dedicated tank builds. After yesterday's THK run, and experiments with the Rujiyo quests we decided not to try and emulate one. Besides, Europe was 1 win away from losing favor so much of the build was just take it and see before favor ran out. I'll leave it to the others to add their builds to the post.
The result of the trip was a completion of every quest in fow, in a single session.
I apologise for the large amount of thumbnails, but it was important to provide proof of the run in a sequential manner
Starting off
Giving Rastigan his house back
Fighting in the Forest
Not Wailing anymore
Poor Dragon, has no chance..
Wailing lord is happy now
Shadows vs Skellie Deathmatch
Freeing Forgemaster
Forge open for buisness
Khobay Defeated
All alone in the scary woods
Happy Griffons
Happier Mesmers
We don't need no book
Freed the slaves
Killed the mighty shadow lord and paying him our final respects
The Hunt Is Over
Final picture before bed time

It’s been a long time since I did an all Mesmer fow trip, so last night Guild and a couple of friends decided to rectify it.
The team list was as below
One of the criticisms levelled at these all Mesmer teams, is that very often some players, especially the monks just load up on secondary profession skills and being a Mesmer in name and dress style only. This trip was to help address this observation and have some fun in process. So we made a rule. You could only take a maximum(including a res) of 4 skills from a secondary profession. Meaning over half had to be Mesmer ones.
The build is as below. Red underline is non Mesmer skill, yellow is non Mesmer res
As you can see no one has loaded out with monk spells. In order to live, we had to shut down as much as possible to prevent overloading the heals. Note also we had no big ele nuke or necro spells in order to do damage. In other words we had to play like mesmers.
Now we all know, FoW is no longer the beast it once was. But a team lacking in healing or prot will still be punished, so this was a nice challenge and more importantly a lot of fun.
Now onto the trip.
We reached Rastigans house easily. Very little got thru the wall of shutdown and interrupts. No one died.
We then proceeded to clear battlefield and freed the forgemaster
We then completed defend the forge and complete the forgemaster quest. This was done without a single death from when we went into fow
Next was Khobay, who fell easily under a barrage of withering shutdown and hexes. Again not a single death.
The forest and Wailing lord were also completed(the griffons wandered off, but you can see em on the radar). Alas two mesmers fell at the big pull at the bridge. These were to be the only losses we incurred in the whole trip.
One of our number had to go, so as a finale we decided to take on the four monk group just down from Rastigan. They rapidly fell after being found unable to cast heals on each other.
And finally the obligatory end of trip screenie.
For sure, had it not been 1:30am the team could have cleared fow quite easily, as even heavy melee monsters such as abyssals did not pose much threat, Degen areas may have been tricky(tho the spider cave was a push over) but in reality if the mobs cant cast they cant hurt you.
A big thanks to all involved
Shan

Just because your primary is mesmer doesn't mean you're really doing it with mesmers.
