With the domination build there is a bit of discontinuity between Cry of Frustration, Backfire and Guilt/Mistrust. They interfere with each other, i.e. guilt/mistrust will stop backfire from functioning properly because the spell never gets cast and cry will stop guilt/mistrust from functioning fully because the spell never gets the chance to fail, especially when you are using mantra of recovery which lends itself to the spamming meaning that the skills will have more chance to interfere. Look for skills that will be better when both cast on the same target rather than those that will interfere with each other. An example of this is empathy and spirit shackles (which is especially good when combined with mind wrack, mantra of recovery and some good energy management).
Firstly with the illusion build arcane conundrum is quite redundant when you have migraine imo, in its place I would put something to keep you safe from warriors, I would use ethereal burden because it can act as energy management when there are no spell casters in the opposing group to power drain. Also I don't think both phantom pain and accumulated pain are necessary, two deep wounding skills aren't really needed, I would put images of remorse(if you have it) in instead of phantom pain.
Thats my two cents hope that helps.

Ill post the backbones of my Domination builds:
Empathy
Either Power Spike or Backfire
Shatter Enchantment or Energy Burn depending on the area
Hex Eater Vortex
Power Drain
Arcane Echo
Auspicious Incantation
Rebirth, or Wastrel's Demise if it isn't needed
I always run with 1 enchantment removal (Drain or Shatter usually), one hex removal (HEV is perfect in most situations, and is awesome, otherwise Revealed Hex), Empathy and Backfire/ Power Spike, mixed with an Auspicious Incantationated Arcane Echo for energy and damage. Power Drain for obvious reasons.
Sometimes I would swap out for Energy Drain or Echo depending on how I feel.
Works well tbh. Spam the spells you need to use for damage and disruption.

Here is what I have been using for well over 18 months
Illusion 12+3+1 = 16
Fast Casting 9+1 = 10
Inspiration Magic 9+1 = 10
Energy Drain
Energy Tap
Ether Feast
Etheral Burdon
Conjure Phantasm
Phantom Pain
Clumsiness
Illusion of Pain
I use Virtuoso signets on my armor, and Mindclouder as my weapon. Using this build, I am able to inflict -10 health degen on multiple enemy foes... and with Etheral Burdon, Energy tap, and Energy Drain, I have more than ample energy with this build. Give it a try..... Works quite well.

That's awesome!
I bought a Virtuoso's Set for my Mesmer a while ago, thinking it would look nice for my Mesmer, but then I found out that the Enchanter's set was alot better due to the energy bonus. How well are you doing with the Virtuoso's Armor?

With the lack of Energy, with a mesmer is not a problem at all seriously. I dont really use Virtuoso (Use mostly Rogue Armor). I can say Virtuoso is for Domination line because in Illusion attribute, you have many skills which they cast very fast. In Domination and Inspiration attribute, except interrupt skills, take a little more time to activate.
Another thing we can see with the Virtuoso, its good to use Signets because they count as a skill and they take time to cast, giving your bonus a little longer on you.
Just my 2 cents

general purpose Illusion
For general PvE use, I use Illusion builds. I don't like to depend on interrupts to much. I always take:
Ineptitude and Clumsiness: big damage on attacks, block and blind.
If not being attacked, I like:
Images of Remorse, Illusion of Pain, Accumulated Pain: a chain doing 55 dam.(if foe is attacking), -10 health degen., plus 37 dam. and a deep wound. Be sure to renew Illusion of Pain before it expires. (I watch it to see recharge at 5 sec., count 3 and re-cast.
Conjure Phantasm is good if you don't want to worry about keeping up Illusion of Pain, just get 2 hexes on foe so Acc. Pain gets you your Deep wound. And Images of Remorse is a cheap fast spam attack.
Leech Signet and Signet of Disruption: good for no energy interrupts of foe actions, meaning Troll Unguent and Healing Signet as well as spells. If I need another interrupt, Power Return is cheap and fast.
For PvP much the same, and I like Imagined Burden, to chase down kiters, and escape when things get bad. I also like Ether Signet for energy management.
Illusion Magic 16
Fast Casting 9
Inspiration Magic 11
All Radiant Armor and The Mindclouder gives 58 energy, 2nd weapon set 70e, 3rd weapon set 80e. If I have to get into 2nd or 3rd sets, a quick switch back to set 1 gives 0e, cast Ether Singet for a quick 17e jumpstart.
This build is effective against most things you might encounter. Its main weakness is no hex removal , mostly important in PvP, so another Mesmer or a hex heavy Nec can cause problems for you. It is great against War., Ass., Ranger, Dervish, Paragan and Ele. Not good against healing Monk with no attacks and hex removal.
Prophecies armor is now inscribable, I just got a new set of Courtly (female). I can now make it Radiant (I always max energy before armor or health- a mesmer isn't supposed to stand there and take a beating anyway). Courtly Armor is the most elegant looking on the game, IMHO. It also dyes beautifully- mine is deep Mesmer purple. It screams "I am a mesmer- want to do something about it?"

I found that most of the domination elites weren't that powerfull (In PvE), so I prefer to cast the non-elite skills twice as much.
The MoR + WW combo will allow me to quickly finish bosses in Nightfal/Prophecies (or other creatures with natural resistance)

I'm going to try out michelle's build...it's a pretty nice idea for dealing damage (which is something I'd like to do). Thanks for sharing.
Also, how do you effectively use Wastrel's Worry?
