Default Early Post Mesmer

Smart People,

I am back from a giant hiatus from the GW community and only jumped back in recently.

I have all three GW games, and have played a bit into each. I keep falling back to building a Ranger/something build, and I decided to just break out of my shell and go caster style.

I am out of pre in the Prophesies campaign, and am starting to slow down. All builds I can find are pretty much based around 13 points in a stat, or an echo/arcane echo mix.

Anyone have a build in mind using early post skills? My furthest char was a R/E, so right now I just bought stone daggers, obsidian flame, and ward against melee, but I feel that I am just going to have an ele with backfire and empathy.

It seems the skills I have for mesmer are too high in recharge time (like Energy Burn) or just seem like a bad combo for damage (Fragility and Conjure Phantasm)

Any suggestions? Am I just missing something about Mesmer-ing?

You're missing something about mesmering. The skills rely heavily on usage. They aren't like most of the elementalist skills that you can just fire off.'

In your example of energy burn, the skill is energy denial and damage at the same time.

In pVE however, your main skills will probably be empathy, diversion, power spike, and maybe backfire.

I've never seen anyone use Diversion in PvE, but eh..

If you're in Ascalon right now, I would make a heavy degen build for the mobs there. I think that Illusion is more useful in the low-level areas than Domination is. Conjure Phantasm + Phantom Pain really helps in these areas since the mobs have less health.

Diversion can work nicely in PvE, throw it on a Char Fireslinger while you focus on the other char around it, no more flares. Any monster that spam spells will be hurt badly by Diversion.

Also, it is still far off, but cap Mantra of Recovery as soon as you can.
