Ele/Mesmer is only good for farming and heroes.

How narrowminded... There's lots of handy stuff from mesmer secondary, think about: cry of frustration, insp interrupts, enchant removal, mantra of resolve, hex breaker etc etc etc etc etc etc..

If I wanted enchant removals, /N is better.
For interrupts, eles already have Maelstrom and Meteor Shower. Everything else is better on AI, with its insta reflexes.
For anti-hex, the monk stuff is better - eles can happily run some expensive stuff like Convert Hexes.
I'm not narrowminded, I've simply formed my opinion through a lot of experimenting, and far too many hours playing as an ele.

No, I'm quite sure.
There's a grand total of... one skills I'd take on my ele from the mesmer side.
The very niche Mirror of Disenchantment.
Neo, please go back to shock-ing yo' way through PvE

Lol. He obviously knows tons more than you about the class. Remember kids, just 'cause something works in PvE, it doesn't mean it's necessarily effective or useful. You mentioned that the rest of your group kills fast enough for you to not take much damage. Well, I'd be willing to bet that group is carrying you through the game. Much like a guild team with one PuG'er will often carry him no matter how awful he is to Master's reward in a mission, just 'cause they needed an 8th.
Forget the mesmer skills... I want to see his touch-range build of eliteness. Then we can discuss the mesmer skills.

Auspicious Incantation is a great energy management skill on high energy cost skill teamed up with glyph of renewal.
Mantras are great when running a tank build which i have a bunch of.
the obvious archane echo
for the sake of i have to leave, that is all u get for now. will name more later

Auspicious is null. Ele options are far superior - if you need that much extra energy, you really need to rethink your build.
Mantra of Earth is only of use for tank/farming builds. Everywhere else it's as useful as Flare.
Arcane Echo has been null since Nightfall came out. Anyone who echoes MS nowadays needs a slap.

I've run epidemic from /me with blinding flash, although bsurge is generally a better option now. It's also almost mandatory to give heroes a couple of slots for inspiration interrupts. Mirror of disenchantment is great in PvE if the mobs start aegis chaining - which never really happens.
Pretty much everything else is a waste of space.

I remember using Mantra of Resolve on my nuker back in the day, but that's not really a viable option in the more. I think Arcane Echo is really the only mesmer skill that you will find in a good ele bar nowadays.

I agree with Alex, all I use from the mesmer is for farming. (that includes all the Luxon thumpers and sins in AB) In HA or GvG its either monk or rit, in non farming PvE its usually monk or ranger.

Auspicious and Arcane Echo are both useful skills if someone lacks Nightfall. Other than that, other secondary choices are far superior.

echo isnt obsolete at all.. i run an AB build that makes good use of it.. in fact it hinges around it. there are more skills than just ms ya know other elements than fire. having said that echo or arcane echo is the only mesmer skill i consider useful to an ele. well possibly mantra of resolve as well but that can cause problems with energy management if you arent careful how you use it. i prefer obsidian flesh.
