i think most of the free skills in presearing are available in post searing as quest rewards, so you are not really missing much of anything at this point. and no, you are not permanently screwed. GW is very forgiving, and will allow you to fix all your mistakes later.

if this is your first time playing however, you've missed some spectacularly beautiful scenery and the tutorial areas. you might want to restart just to experience those completely if you wish. but like i said, you aren't really missing anything too important.

True, I think the only thing you cannot undo are quests that you have completed. (...and going back to Pre-searing...of course).

To the OP, you might want to create a new character and play more in Pre-Searing Ascalon. Explore everywhere and do all the quests. Play there for a few days and go to post when you're level 6-8 and have about 1k of gold. Its quite a fun and beautiful place.

Keep all the dyes you find, and Charr Hides too.
