That's easy to answer. If you look at the skills you might think that it could have been done since Prophecies.
But you've got to think of the mesmer skill buffs. Eather Fest and Signet of Midingt have been seriously buffed 2 months ago and we didn't have Consumables before GWEN

Well it IS needed. But since the ectos drops in Chaos Planes are great, you will make quite good profite out of it.

Killing Smites takes about 15 mins. Well the Chaosplanes will take about one hour to clear completly.

You don't kill the Aatxes with this build. You take the quest Clear the Chamber right away. You then gather the Grasps and kill those then head for the mountains.

You will use your Essence of Celerity to give you a 25% speed boost to out run the aatxes.
