HFFF is a good way...2k exp each run with a run taking about a minute or so. Plus faction for your guild

Yep, if you can't get it done with Kilroy the only *coughcheapcough* method left is HFFF down in Lutgardis. Plus if you're serious about using your mesmer you will fall in love with [Ether Nightmare].

People have been mentioning killing down the wurms just outside the first GWEN outpost. Those guys should be melee - so you just degen/WW them to death from afar.

It's safe.
In HM you get 396 point per kill. (Add a scroll ...)
And Norn points.
It IS slow - don't get me wrong - but considering the guy has a shitty connection - there aren't many options to do this.

im getting mine doing hfff but you have a half dozen mission to get there i just happened to notice i was level 2 survivor when i got there unintended. the wurms like upier is probably the safest thing for you

Erkki, you got r3 survivor by just doin missions and quests? did you use scrolls? and cap elites or anything else? I ask cos I am thinking of going for it but DONT want to get it by just doing silly farming just to show off my title but want some satisfaction of doing it the hard way. How long did it take? which campaign did you start from?

My first mesmer survivor. Done the old-fashioned way. Questing, elites - no scrolls.
You can see the age and the elites capped.

Now the issues:
1. It takes forever.
2. It IS a completely personal achievement. The fact that you got it the right way will mean something JUST to you. You need to be completely clear about this. NO ONE will care that you got it the hard way.
3. You will waste a lot of money getting the title.

And it's because of that that "I" suggest to ANYONE to just farm the title.
You can always continue playing trying not to die after you get the title. The same kind of nerve-wrecking extravaganza - just without the downside if you were to fail.

Tomes? Start in Prophecies, get skills for quest rewards.

I always capped them on my old guys.
My new guy has only a few elites though. There is just no point in getting them. Most of them are completely worthless in PvE - and for PvP I just make a PvP char.
(BUT it did take me 2+ years to figure that out.

These days I'd rather save the gold and waste it on something even LESS useful! Like Lucky/Unlucky titles!

But yeah, good luck if you do it the old way. Everytime I decide to make a survivor I ragequit after getting it. It just ruins the game for me so badly - be it the farming or playing that insanely long to get it.

Going for Survivor is about the only thing that keeps me interested in a character. The nervousness when those tough mobs in the S. Shiverpeaks, or killer bosses in Factions and Nightfall, are involved and you know you could easily lose your character? Fun!

I'm going back and rerolling most of my toons, now, until they at least make r1 - which is fairly easy as that only takes getting to lvl 20 w/o a death. (I was going for LS on a NF Mesmer, but she got killed after r1 in EotN and I simply couldn't bear to redo all that stupid jumping through hoops in Istan just to get off the fracking island again! I might at some point reroll her, though. She's one of my best looking toons!)

Once I make LS (which I have only achieved on a Rit, so far - doing missions/quests, and capping elites), I find my interest in playing that toon dwindles. Unless it is to simply explore areas I'd never been to before, or try crazy ass builds just because!

I don't know - once you die in this game, and that title is no longer available, it's like "What does it matter?" Yeah, so you get Death Penalty - big whoop. Yeah, DP can make things take longer. But, usually, it's just a minor annoyance, and you can succeed simply by sheer stubborn perseverance. At that point, I just go crazy and say "F-it!" and slap on some stupid skills and see what I can do with them. (Mesmer skill-stealing builds are fun just for that kind of thing!)

I have a LS and I recommend one of the 3 for the fastest & safest way.

1) kilroy's punchout
2) lutgardis kurzick hff
3) hm snow wurms outside of boreal

I find getting LS pretty stressful and not very fun..

They are and you can, but I would consider bringing bloodsong and vampirism to help when they go underground.
