Tyla your looking for [[ether nightmare]. I have a mes in pve and I like it. You can do mostly everything by yourself if not everything if you pull mobs right. Also SoI+pve skills = no grind .

Even running the PvE only Factions skill, you've got degeneration, decent AoE damage output that is echoable and have 6 slots to do whatever you want with.

Well some people said nuking is not playing like a "mesmer" whatever a "mesmer" means to them, so I suggested an option where they dont need to bring CoP for nuking and yet be effective in PvE. [[Mind Wrack] tends to suggest energy denial to me and energy denial is quite useless in PvE unless it is one of those dual visages solo farming builds. But I get it if you are just bringing it to fuel CoP.

I said that nuking isn't mesmer-like. Dominating , shutdown , e-denial , making your opponent pull his hair out is mesmer like , CoP nuking isn't that.
Also I went through most of eotn without using CoP. I used mostly [Guilt] , [Shame] and [Mistrust]. [Echo] or [Glyph of Renewal] are very useful for such builds. Ether nightmare isn't really good , even 8 degen isn't much , that's why it's rarely on my bar.

I respect your individual choice of playstyle. But I dont really care for what is considered mesmer-like or lady-like for that matter. My mesmer would be like whatever I want her to be like.

I have 2 mesmers and have them thro all campaigns
I think that a lot of guys have tried mesmers and failed because it takes a little time to fully understand ./and they give up
Its really what you want to play and what class ..dont listen to others, If you enjoy it then thats what counts..
Yes great for bosses ect always remember, some pugs only want on a team what chars they have played
High end areas are no problem hero/.hench
Enjoy the game

Quoted for truth.
There's so much hex removal in PvE but so little condition removal.
I still enjoy playing my mesmer. Right now I'm a fast cast trigger for my discord heroes.

The constant recharge on my hex eater signet is so fun. Let's me remove a buttload of hexes since henchies and heroes LOVE to crowd together and not split apart.

Kupp, mesmers are probably one of the fastest killers in the game if used properly. They can fulfill MANY roles and have some of the cheapest comboes ever in gw when you go Me/A.
Cap Assassin's promise and watch the destruction begin, as you rampage on enemy mobs.
Ether Nightmare gives a WHOLE MOB massive hp degeneration if you are a high enough kurzick rank. Follow it up with cry of pain for already big damage to a mob. Use clumsiness and its EoTN clone skill for messing up the warriors AND dealing aoe damage, then when your primary target is below 50% hp, cast Assassin's promise and "Finish him!"
The enemy will die in a matter of seconds with ALL your skills recharged and a huge energy gain, while all the enemies around you took enough high armor ignoring damage as it is, in which, you can continue to rampage and kill them all one by one by Assassin's promise>>> "Finish him!" on targets with below 50% hp.
If you want to be a mainstream PuGer and aren't very hardcore, go Warrior/Ele/Monk, because that is all that PuG's believe in. But if you DO want to be hardcore, go Mesmer and watch as everything in your path just withers even if you go H/H.
Do not worry about high-end areas. Just find a good guild that isn't "GLF R10 URSAN NO N00BS!"

A non-Mesmer can do the same you know, minus the AP but recharges are short anyway.

Pretty much what i have been doing with my mesmer these days if i H/H. Discord teams are the best option for pve with a h/h team.
If playing with real players then there are various options you can run from different forms of shutdown, or running a hybrid of shutdown and some support from a 2nd class.
Most commonly here i run a mes fueling [[great dwarf weapon], [[splinter weapon], [[ancestors rage] with mesmer skills such as [[shatter hex].
Good elite options for such a setup are [[expel hexes], [[mantra of recovery], [[offering of spirit].
If you choose to run a full mesmer shutdown based build then good elites to look at are [[glyph of renewal] (much better than echo for most situations) or [[mantra of recovery]. Most mesmer skills are amazing if you can drop their recharge down or even cast them twice in a row.

Well thank you at least your giving me some hopes. I am gonna stick with my mesmer but since i'm starting my HoM and already wasted 2 destryoer weapons on another char i don't really care for, i need a good amount of money, and time.
The reason that got me to create this thread is exactly it, i was afaid all the party's in any elite areas we're only tank/nuker/healer/bonder and mesmers we're unwanted, wich is true. But I see it depends on the guild. I'm new to the mesmer class, it's the one i never bothered to try until now and i saw it's actually pretty good for the little time i've spent with it. That said, i'm gonna learn to use it properly.
I'll keep playing with it, and i'll use other chars to get some gold until i can find a guild with mature players and that avoid ursans and etc. that i don't like as much. I've done a fow clear as a healer in an ursan group... I finished it pretty sad with the way they done things... Steamroller yay!
Btw, what's H/H? :P

Hero/Hench , means you go alone with 3 heroes and 4 henchmen , beats a pug in most situations

GW2 won't be out for, what - at least 2 years? I think that gives you plenty of time to HoM your mesmer.
Best character class in the game!

mesmers got a nice boost in power in the latest update...
its funny b/c mesmers are my 2nd favorite class after the assassin are both are the most misunderstood/ignorant classes in the game as far as other peoples knowledge of them.
mesmers and assassins are broken.
any good sin or mes knows what i'm talking about.
