As a Monk primary, I vanquished nearly everything with Discord Heroes and henchmen - using a typical AP-YMLAD-EVAS-FH! build - the build is pretty much best damage I could run, it beats RoJ, spirit spam and other stuff a Monk can try. Only a few areas I did with actual people.
My friend, if the AP build + H/H works good on a Monk, whose primary attribute offers zero actual benefit to, I am certain you can run it well on a Mesmer - fast casting will make it fun. If you get bored, run an actual Mesmer build, or RoJ/smite, or spirit spam, etc.
Quick edit: I agree with the above - vanquishing is desperately boring; Legendary Vanquisher was by far the most boring title I went after. It was really disheartening to see the Tyria bar at like... 17/54 and scroll over the whole map trying to find which area would be the least painful/boring to do... The Falls, anyone? just lol

Falls is uber boring but it always was to me. I think vanquish is so boring to you because you guys 'grind' it. As in, you decide to go for the title and do 100 vanquish areas in a row. I don't do that, don't have time nor desire. Vanq is something I can do for fun with other people, such as in all-mesmer meetings where I'd rather do vanquish than dungeon for instance.
How do I vanquish? I check Nicholas, vanquish few areas related to what he wants, and there you go. Or pick an area I've fun with, and go there.
It does get repetitive of course, and thus boring, because some areas are way too big.

Thanks for the replies guys. I tried the AP caller and it worked great. I substituted PwK for Pure was Ming Li on the heroes and it went pretty smooth.

I definitely agree, when I got gwamm on my ranger I had a little more motivation as it was my 1st time through. Also with the new pve skills hopefully this time will be more fun. I have them all at max power so they should work as pretty well. I'm also going to try those new texmod apps to finish up carto.

The build you've posted seems intersting , might try a few things out , one thing i noticed is the skill you use for e mangement (energy drain i think its called), you can try using Wate Not Want Not after you use YMLAD - thats my preffered E Mangement, its also got a quicker recharge and same e gain.

Is the ER healer set to guard or avoid?
Why not Finish Him and blindness on the human bar?
Aura of Restoration instead of Air Attunement and Vital Blessing.
Why not run a normal Lich hero build but with Shambling Horrors?
Sympathetic Visage isn't good in PvE and is especially silly if you have blind.

Finish Him!
Ether Signet

Drain Enchantment
Power Drain
optional : resurrection signet, power return, cry of frustration..
i think it was 10+1+1 inspiration
10+1 FC
10 Deadly Arts
I've been running this as a discord caller. works fine.. also tried running discord caller with Me/A 12+1+1 illusion, but you barely get a chance to launch a clumsiness or wandering eye.

Vanquishing is only boring if you make it boring. My advice is to play a bunch of different styles of builds and find which style of play you have the most fun with. Vanquishing takes long enough that if you arnt having fun while doing the title, its going to be dreadful. However, it does give you a chance to experiment with some fun builds you would not be able to experiment with in Pugs or PvP. My mesmer is my vanquisher and I have used fastcasting Me/X builds for nearly every caster attribute. Why? Because its fun for me and I realize that even if I use fast builds like AP caller/discordway, getting legendary vanquisher is still going to take awhile. My advice, therefore, is to use w/e you find fun, as you probably arnt going to finish the title if you try to grind through it.

Nope, for some of us VQing is ALWAYS boring.
I quite enjoy the idea of sneaking by foes, watching their patrols to make the move, ... and VQing is the complete opposite of that.
There is just no fun in running up and down an empty map, looking for that last guy you missed.

Agreed, vanquishing is always boring. Maybe a bit less if you have a couple people with you.

Funny, that's exactly my playstyle too and exactly why VQing drove me nuts the first time. It seems so pointless to waste time killing stuff when you can just sneak past if you time it right. (I used to have fun trying to quest without killing a single enemy when I played through a campaign on a new character.) By the time I'd nearly finished up, though, I did start finding it fun in a strange sort of way to see how fast I could blow through mobs and how far I could get without dying. 350+ foe areas still weren't fun, though.

Forgive me father for I have sinned.
At least one of us has to continue the titleless and hatred towards SF legacy, eh Jay.
