Default Elementalist/Mesmer question

I have made an elementalist a while ago with the idea to use ranged AoE. My old guild advised me to take Mesmer as a secondary. So I did. I am level 12 now. The point is that I am a bit over taken by all the cool spells a Mesmer has. And now I am wondering which line of mesmer magic would be the best fit to an elementalist?

Inspiration magic. For the mesmer skills "Ether Feast" and "Energy Drain" both of which harvest your opponent's energy to replenish your own, so you can cast more spells before running out.

I have been thinking about that. But at an energy of 55 I haven't ran out of energy once yet. Maybe that will change in the future? I shall surely give it a closer look though.

Firestorm and phoenix, I recently got fireball. I try not too spam flare too much, that's an energy saver. I use my 9-15 staff instead.

I recently got channel. Anyone know is that is better than energy tap (which I find very slow)?

I find Conjure Flame and letting my wand (normal attack dmg) act as a "flare" is more energy efficient (although not as much DPS...).

personally I like the domination line in mesmer for backfire and empathy

specced up a bit the baddie can be taking 80+ damage each time they cast a spell...

that adds up

For PvE with my Mes/Ele I usually use a basic build of:

Backfire
Empathy
Fire Storm
Chaos Storm
Flare
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Power Spike
Res Signet/Capture Signet/Another Interrupt...

Empathy can be removed as you get to higher level areas in favor of another interrupt or something more useful. I also sub it out for Hex Breaker in areas where I know there will be lots of hex-casting mobs. The dual AoE works beautifully for most areas since generally mobs will stay close together and you can usually work on at least 3 at one time with AoEs. Flare is a nice cheap, fast dmg source to spike dmg a little bit. Because I was Mes primary the Glyph helps with having 3 15 energy cost spells - an Ele primary could likely ditch it for something more useful - the ele spell that grants you health based on energy cost of spells and your Energy Storage might be nice.

Once you hit the desert carry two interrupts with you, and you should be able to kill a Hydra without ever taking dmg. Power Spike the first spell, Power Drain (or whatever the second) and then he'll only get one weak sauce Inferno off before dying, in all likelihood, and probably use it on a melee that's beating on him.

As far as attributes I'd look at Energy Storage, Fire, Domination, and either stick to those 3 or maybe go for a 10/10/8/8 type build and add Inspiration depending on your skill choices.

For PvP, well, so many cool specialized builds you could get into between the two classes

Actually i 'm level 14 now Ele/Mes

I only focus on Energy Storage and Domination Attributes

Domination ... quite supportive, Energy Storage, first use da Aura, for everytime u cast a spell, u receives HP, secondly, it increase ur MP while using Domination ...

Later on ... i probably choose an Attribute that can ez wipe out foe ... such as lighting ...
Anyway, i feel like Mesmer 's my most favorite character ... As long as u dominate ur foe, it 's ur world
