Talking The Can't Stop Won't Stop Elementalist

This is the build I run on my air mage (Pillow Hands Mcgraw) and I find it to be extremely effective in many types of situations. The build centers around dual attunements, and will work with other elementalist attributes, if you are willing to sacrifice the elite.

Elementalist/Mesmer

1. Elemental Attunement -e-
2. Air Attunement
3. Lightning Orb
4. Lightning Javelin
5. Lightning Strike
6. Chain lightninig
7. Arcane Echo
8. res signet / blinding flash

Attributes:

Energy Storage : 14 (major rune)
Air Magic: 16 (superior rune)

Basically, elemental attunement and air attunement add up to give me 80% return on the energy I use to cast air magic spells. For example, when I cast Lightning Orb, I use 15 energy, then get 12 energy back, therefore I only use 3 energy to cast a very powerful spell.

Lets crunch out some numbers to prove my point.

For the sake of this argument, lets assume I'm casting 3 cycles of my attack routine. (lightning strike, lightning strike, lightning orb, lightning javelin, chain lightning.)

W/O attunements

Lightning strike x2 (5 energy each) + Lighting orb (15 energy) + Lightning javelin (10 energy) + chain lightning (10 energy.) = 45 energy

x3

=135 energy! YIKES!

Lets try it again, this time with the dual attunements

Lightning strike x2 (1 energy each) + Lightning orb (3 energy) + Lightning javelin (2 energy) + chain lightning (2 energy) = 9 energy

x3

=27 energy?!?! That cant be right! BUT IT IS!

The only weakness I can find with this build are the pesky mesmer and necro monsters who shatter or strip your enchanments (attunements.) Most of the time however, if you stay back far enough, they wont give you any trouble. Also, be careful when casting chain lightning a bunch, as it causes exhaustion and can kill your energy return.

Thats almost my build

I lack ele attunement (that I hope to get tonight). And for farming I would change Blinding/Rez with Aura of Restoration. Get that, Lina and Alesia and have fun with unlimited health/energy killing Hydras in groups of 5 with noone dying! Or Whirlwind and you knock. Not a problem being close to the mobs since the hench mo does a nice work together =)

That's a pretty standard build... but a nice one to be sure! The only real problem with a build like this is its reliance on those two energy-reduction enchantments. That particular combination of air moves sucks energy away faster than any other combination I know... so if someone decides to blow up your enhancements in your face (points to evil-mesmer self) you're going to be in a world of hurt.

Nice work overall though!

EDIT: Just noticed that you mentioned your own weaknesses. Sounds like you've thought of everything!

Would Arcane Echo work with an Attunement? If so, you could be gaining energy every time you cast. Otherwise, I guess it would combine with Chain Lightning to do very high multitarget damage.

I use Arcane Echo usually with Lightning Strike to spam faster, and exceptionally with Chain Lightning if I find there are mobs easily grouped and the exhaustion is not a problem.

And yes, Arcane Echo works with the attunements (found it by error lol) but dunno if it adds up or if it multiply percentajes (first Elemental Attunement 50% energy cost back, second one 50% of the 50% left = 25% more for a 75% -OR- a full 100% energy cost back) -OR- you dont get any benefits of the second attunement at all. If the answer is 100%, a nice spammer can be built, cast as follows:

Arcane Echo
Elemental Attunement (now you have unlimited energy for 20 secs)
Lightning Strike (can be changed for Chain Lightning)
Lightning Orb (its not the cheapest but hey, you have unlimited energy, and its casted very fast)

VoilĂ , your bar now has 2 attunements and 2 *fast* dmg spells

Anyone knows the answer? Do the attunements adds up? Thanks!

Well u cant have 2 enchantment of the same typ i mean u cant have 2 life bonds or 2 dark aura or 4 divin boon on u etc. And also Elemental Attunement its just an enchantment so it isnt possible to use twice on urself.
