What is the best build to create the most efficient Elementalist farmer? I hear that a monk secondary works pretty well. I realize there is another thread on farming but that one is very messy. I would like this one to focus purely on Elementalist primaries.

Well, I am a elementalist, (don't use my secondary and can't change it yet) and I love using fire for farming. I just gather a huge group of enemies, then meteor storm. It is a good idea to keep aura restoration on.

I've found the following to be quite usefull:

Aura of Restoration, Lava font, Phoenix, Inferno, Firestorm, Meteor Shower.
Gather a lot of mobs and cast in that order. If you're a monk secondary, put on Mending and Balthazar's Aura as well. Put as much points as you can in fire and energy storage, and if you're a secondary monk, put 4 points in healing prayers.

Indeed. E/Mo is a great farming char. Generally, if you're a monk secondary, putting all your points in Energy Storage, Smiting Prayers and Protection/Healing prayers and using a "basic" monk farming build works out perfectly.

Yes, Fire is definetly the farming attribute seeing as how it gains support from all its nice AOE Builds. I don't neccesarily suggest meteor shower and fire storm unless you're facing off against ranged opponents. IMO farming works best when you have a group of enemies that run up to attack you. Phoenix/Lava Font/Flame Burst/Inferno are good to spam inbetween. Healing Hands/Mark of Protection is usually good enough to keep you alive to do enough damage.

If you don't want to put points into the monk side Mystform is a nice elite that can keep you unharmed from melee damage while you cast spells. Also Firestorm and Meteorstorm work just fine with mobs around you. As long as you don't get interrupted. With the long cast times that tends to happen a lot.

If you have mesmer as a secondary you can take the Mantra that keeps you from being interrupted and it helps out a lot.

I've been wondering if anyone has ever created an air/<another element> -- <another element>/air or just purely air farming build, sposed its hard.. since more or less all of the air skills work on single targets but yeah.. I dont know almost any of the air skills so I dont know if there are many air skills.. but I sometimesm put whirlwind if I have a <spell you prefer> list.. since if you have alot of attacking it knocks/interrupts theyr normal/special attacks. But yeah I dont know.. just if anyone creates an air farmin' build or even trys would be fun to see how it works =]

You could try combining Whirlwind with Aftershock, and taking spells such as Armour of Earth (or better, kinetic armour) and Wards to reduce damage. Not sure how good Ether Renewal is since it got nerfed, but that combined with Aura of Restoration, an Earth protective enchantment and something cheap and spamable should keep you alive. Another nice Air/Earth combo is Enervating charge + Stoning, but that's not really great for farming.

I'm sure there are better farming builds, but if you want air...

all sup runes, -50health focus item, +30health focus item in case I die so I can continue farming (ragos wand if you can get it, I use collecters firewand outside elona's reach 5minotaur *horns I lost my firewand with 19% improvement castingspeed

ive bought cheap armor of droknars for farming

16fire FIRE EYE or 16AIR
9healingprayers
9protectionprayers
rest in energystorage

protective spirit (always up)
balthazars spirit (always up)
essense bond (always up)
mending (always up)
Aura of restoreation (try to keep this always up)
fireball/flameburst whirlwind/lightningtouch (recharge time takes allot longer though)
If you are running out of health because the mob is getting to big try to have aura of restoreation up and spam protective spirit and healingbreeze in case you fireball and flameburst are recharging... you need to keep casting in order to stay alive

you can farm hydra's, dessert griffons, all minotaurs in elona's reach mission, moutain trolls outside droknars (its hard though but possible).

using arcane echo and mist form works really well against melee types, though the AOE nerf kinda made farming with elementalist much harder

If u are secondary mesmer u can use mantra, earth skills (aftershock, earthquake...) and your pyromancer armor to farm hydras in the desert. U can also use any mesmer spells to interupt the hydras meteor. When u cast mantra of flame u get pretty resistant to fire

to farm minotaurs in Elona MISSION not outside of Elona.. do an Air spike with blinding flash..super easy and can take on two.. can kill the dune burrowers..but a bunch of them might be hard..

air attunement, glyph of energy, chain lightning, enervating charge,lightning orb,lighting strike,blinding flash and 8th skill can be whatever. maybe ward of melee

simply do attunement,glyph hit a minotaur..if 2 comes.. blind one... attack with air spikes.. when charged blind other and repeat.same with dune burrowers...there main damage is in there normal attack so blind and inturrupt there healing spring.

Im sure there is a thread around here somewhere, can't find it at the moment tough, I use they build noted there which works great

whirlwind, aftershock, armor of earth, kinetic armor, essence bond, aura of restoration, ether renewal and earth attunement/crystal wave, take whichever you prefer, both work if you time it right.

the strategy is pretty simple, go to the (preferably melee) enemies AFTER throwing up essence bond, earth attunement and aura of restoration, then when they come to you, put on kinetic armor then armor of earth, from then, keep spamming aftershock + whirlwind to keep the dmg flowing and the kinetic armor up, recast essence bond for health or to keep kinetic armor up.
With a 15% or more enchanting upgrade it becomes even easier to keep the kinetic armor up. I do with 12 earth magic, 9 air magic, 12 energy storage at the moment, (few minor runes, and earth/storage eye)

If you want to farm griffins, go outside augury rock at the west gate, run past the first devourer, keep running until the devourer stopped following, the minotaurs will follow, throw kinetic armor on, more minos come from the south side, kill those 5/6 minos in total, then go south, run past the devourers again... see the griffins, throw up ur enchantments, run into the griffins and fight them same way as minos...

this is all pretty easy if you dont have the 1205706105713 devourer spawn... :P you can take on 7 griffins quiet easily if you dont forget to keep spamming essence bond on yourself when your hitpoints go low, use the renewal when you go low energy/health. my maximum so far is 9 griffins and 5 minotaurs

(was damn hard tough) I give all credits to the one who made this build... its totally awesome! (btw the start of elona reach is a good place to farm xp, gold drops a bit less tough, no devourers, so good place to train as well!!)
