Again I use all of them, but since there seems to be some fire dis'ing lately -
Actually sometimes a best defense is a good offense and where and what you are fighting can change up the configuration quite a bit, even dramatically. If that's your experience to date with them I'd suggest you try mixing it up. Similiarly I find when I play fire I often call targets if not lead the group being more offensively minded than most of the other builds, and often get lack-luster PUGs to get it together and push the mission home.
Also in working with a winter and interrupt ranger we recently wiped out fire island with just henchies for capping and fun, and a lot of tactics were employed - it was hardly a dull, un-inventive and repetitive time
I'm disappointed factions seems to be going the wrong way though, 10 more regular skills, 15 elites (and of course still stuck to 1 on a bar) and with those very few skills and options coming in, concentrating on cross-line (sorry, need a lot more re-work than a few parlor tricks to make that viable) - yikes.
Guess we'll see

My favourite element is Water, closely followed by Earth.
Water has great control over mobility, which is very effective in PvP - especially against Warriors. (Not so much PvE though, unless you are nuking in tandem with snares). Plus, Water has some nice utility spells that can be very effective.
Earth is my second favourite because I love the high armour boosting enchantments, and it has some great damage skills and wards to top it off. The downside is that if you are using alot of the enchantments, you are a prime target for enchantment removal.
I've never played an Air Elementalist in PvE, and only played Fire in PvE rarely. However, I have played an Air Elementalist quite a few times in PvP - I found the damage quite impressive (especially Lightning Orb's), but overall, I don't like Air much. Just not my style, I think. =/
Fire has some powerful, high damage skills in its line, but many of them rely on targets who are clumped together to deal great damage, which is unreliable in PvP, in my opinion.

all these peopel who prefer the other elements over fire yet all you ever see anywhere are echo/renewal nukers . Everyone should refuse to use such a build so PUGs will have to take a different kind of ele along.
Down with echo nuke!
i play air mostly and earth for ettin farming, ive just started using water.

For PvE, which is all I play, I haven't yet seen good reasons to move away from nuking.

Heh... Earth is good with its really powerful defense spells and Enchantements, thought the attack could be better, it is the drawback of Earth Magic. Anyways,
Obsidian Flame ignores armor with 118-124 damage and the Exhaustion is... Negligeable. With 81 Energy, you can easily pass off this weakness even without the Glyph of Energy. They shouldn't put more attack spells on Earth Magic because it'll be too powerful =). The...Guild Wars Team should put more defense for Earth Magic. Even if it's already powerful in that way, i'd prefer having more defense spells. They are only 3-4 really useful defense spells...
