Question Eles and enrgy?

I would like to know that is the best way to get more enrgy for an Ele?I am asking this for guildie as he plays E/Mes and only has 80 enrgy and could use more before exhaustion takes effect.I would like to know what you all use for more enrgy like off hand? Thanks

only 80?? lol

if 80 is a problem he could use Glyph of Energy {E}

For 15 seconds, your next spell costs 20 less Energy to cast and does not cause exhaustion.

Well, at 12 nrg storage dont you have like 80 nrg? with an offhand item it shouldn't be hard to get it past 90. And with exhaustion yeah, use Glyph of Energy {E}, it prevents exhaustion and lowers energy cost by 20. If it's recharging use your
exhaustion spells sparingly.

He should rely less on Obsidian Flame.

Just remember that energy isn't infinite. You use energy, and no matter HOW high your initial energy pool is, you will need to use some skills to replenish it. I suggest you look at these energy management skills from the ele side instead of looking for weapons for higher energy pools to live on:

Glyph of Energy
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Ether Prodigy
Elemental Attunement
Fire/Earth/Water/Air Attunement

This is not to say that having 15/-1 wands and 27/-1 foci for focus swapping is bad, but you can't depend on that all the time.

And as a mesmer, you have other ways of regaining energy as well from the inspiration magic lines:

Power Drain
Drain Enchantment
Energy Tap
Inspired Hex
Spirit of Failure
Inspired Enchantment

Of course these are just ideas. You'll have to mess around with combos and see what works and what doesn't. It also depends on your style of play, or if it's a team build, what your team needs/has already, and what YOUR build is.

Also, regarding exhaustion, if you have more than 1 exhaustion spell on your bar (like obsidian flame, meteor shower) try to pace yourself when you use them. I believe it takes 20s (or was it 30s?) to wear off 1 exhaustion spell, so try not to spam those.

Just a guess.

The way the question was asked, it sounded as if we're talking about somebody who:

1. Uses a spell that causes exhaustion and has a fast recharge time (so that it can be used repeatedly).
2. Is relatively newbieish.

Obsidan Flame is a good guess based on those characteristics.

If you're using an Ele build with two or more exhausting spells, I'd opt for Glyph of Energy.
If you're using a build with just one exhausting spell, Ether Prodigy would probably be your best bet.

as a mesmer secondary you should have no problems at all with energy management! the mesmer profession is loaded with energy management.

also dont just spam one spell. if you are heavily relying only on one spell all the time you need to sort your build. there are 8 slots there and all of them should serve a purpose.

Well I have a build that's totally awesome for energy management, and you can cast and cast and CAST and never run out And, there's no exhaustion! (Fire build though)

Unless, of course, you're playing in a region where there's more enchantment stripping than you can handle ...

I've had good luck with Glyph of Energy myself--since its "effect" is as long as the recharge, it never hurts to throw it up in advance of actual casting so you can trigger it again soon after things...heat up :P

and...Keane...I don't see how ether prodigy helps an exhaustion situation--although having a ridiculously high energy storage will allow you to burn most of the exhaustion it causes before having to recast, it won't save you from yourself if you're abusing exhaustion spells.

Assuming you're trying to remain Ele pure here, it's not really easy to recommend any one solution over the other, since certain solutions favor certain builds over others. I'd be surprised if Glyph of Lesser Energy did the trick though, since I haven't had any partiuclarly stellar experiences with it.
But hey, who knows

If I could find a build that was perfect and uncounterable in every possible situation then I would be a god. As it is, you play the game considering the balance and weighing the probabilities. Am I going to run into echant removal? If so, is it at a proper amount that my massive amount of energy can sustain me through that rough spot if I am careful? I have run my infinergy (Rahl stole my build name! :P ) build in every single place in the PvE game and have found a place where enchant stipping is so heavy that it makes me not run it.

OK. I'm still more comfortable going Double Glyph, however, in Sorrow's Furnace and places like that. (I guess I'd better actually post a Double Glyph build, eh?)

I do go Double Attunement now when going after the scarab queen, however, and just run away from corpses unless I'm sure the necros are all dead (yeah, right). But if I were echo nuking I might go Double Glyph there too.
