Default Adventures in Warding: why earth eles “rock”.

I had a little time to play today, so I grabbed the elementalist I’ve been playing with and went to do some missions. I deleted my Mesmer in anticipation fo Factions (I want the new faces for her) and I've been grooming another elementalist for a while now off and on. No droks runs. No farming help from my other toons.

Not being in one of my usual “Leave me alone” moods, I called out in Borlis Pass “lvl 11 ward ele LFG, can go fire.”

No takers. There was a group of level 15+ folks joining together for mission and bonus (sounds like they needed all the help they could get, so I avoided them) but no one seemed interested in my earth ele. Poor me

It falls down to me to form my own party so I start grabbing people as they spam their lfg tags. BTW: I didn’t grab anyone who just spammed “lfg” over and over again, no matter how desperate I was with my piddly level 11 wrong element elementalist! Take some time to type out your profession :/

In all, I managed to get a couple of lvl 12 and 9 rangers, a lvl 7 monk, a bored lvl 20 fire ele (easy mission now) and…huh? No tank…

I ended up spamming for a tank for a few minutes. No luck. A level 20 zoned in, happy to gear tank for money. No takers. I grabbed a lucky lvl 14 monk and told the group to wait while I re-skillset. Keep in mind. this si a stock lvl 11 ele. she can only 1 afford minor earth rune atm and her armor is from Piken.

First thing out of everyone’s mouth (except me and the lvl 20; I'd told the group I was a warder and he probably knew exactly what I was doing ) was whose the tank?

Me: “Me.” (picks up rod)

Ranger: ???

Ranger 2: You’re kidding…

Lvl 14 monk: OMG

Lvl 7 monk: I’m using Heal Party!

My reply to this was to hit sprint (warrior alt; don’t ask, it’s a rp thing) and drop Armor of Earth every chance I got. The level 20 made this mission extremely easy and Armor of Earth +wards made it a cakewalk. Simply put, for every single fight, I had as much armor as my droks runner most of the time. Against Ice Golems with ward against elements up? I had more.

And I was still doing damage. Between Eruption and (ok; I cheated a little bit at the skill vendor) Obsidian Flame, I kept a decent pace in damage. Not as much as our lucky level 20 fire ele but not bad for a level 11.

Nicest of all, I didn’t need those uber heals everyone was expecting. Apart form an occasional Breeze (and our level 7 spamming heal party all over the place) it was a smooth mission.
The only death for the mission was our level 7 monk. He ran off hunting chests while we hit a boss fight. When he got to us he was half dead and drew agro. I burned a rez sig on him, killed the boss to get it back, and we kept going. Mission and bonus done in no time.

Got a simular story? Please share. Earth eles FTW!

Not due to warding but I have a E/R earth build wipes out packs of lvl 24 imps and does a pretty good job against ice golems, soloing. Really any elemental caster. The build is very similiar to the one you'll find in this forum (think its here anyways).

Also any gvg/tombs I've been in even with a diff primary I'll most often take some earth and ward(s) depending on the team. When there was pretty good spike denial/dmg wasnt making much of a dent more than a couple times our balanced team would win out, the ward(s) coming into much more powerful play to slow melee onslaught most of the time (melee and/or foes).

I also have an iele based on using earth and works with a necro in UW.

edit - also Factions gives Earth Eles another Ward - Ward of Stability.
Lots of KDs going on, this will be a nice, if not very common, add.

Although tanking as an Earth elementalist can be a bit risky, I always do it.
