Aren't we missing something?...
A ranger has 4 armor types: Druids, vs fire, vs lightning (air), vs cold (water)..
with the 3 ele resist modes, arent we missing vs Earth or Physical armor?...
i find weird that we have the 3 elem resistances but it just seems like they forgot (?) the earth (or physical) mode....
i understand that nothing is perfect, but it really looks weird having the 3 sets, vs fire, vs lightning (air), vs cold (water) and not having vs Earth (or physical)
Edit: forgot to put in druids

i wear duids most of the time as well, many times i change sets (for fire rings i wear vs fire etc) but few times i wished we had a vs earth... IMO it would make more sence having all 4 resistances

Ranger don't have a +30 vs Physical set because that would put them on par with Warriors in armor vs to-hit fighters, and screw the differentiation and game balance between the two.

I don't think that + Armor vs a specific element was that good of a Bonus to begin with. At least Ranger's have a functional armor set. Look at the poor Elementalists. I don't think Armor bonuses should be limited to one attribute. You could point out that Drakescale/Frostbound armor have their uses in a few gimmicky builds...but there really honestly is only one option for rangers at the moment.

Besides stone daggers, almost everything else will be minimally affected by +15 against earth, besides, most earth magc people use are wards, +armor or obsidian flame

actually all 4 armors give +1 energy regeneration. druilds give a bonus of +7
most of time im wearing Druids, but yeah.. for certain farms.
my point is that since we have vs 3 elements, we should have a vs 4th... not that it will be largly used... just to complete set
in pvp people use earth to armor... but in pve i'm sure theres a few areas with offensive earth (not sure where)....
but nvm... i was just thinking its weird that we have only vs 3 out of 4 elements
thanks for replys

All armour "pants" have 1 energy regen. Druids armour has energy bonus almost like a 2nd hand focus. I wear druids armour with dragon scale pants...the long cloak of druids armour masks the scales so it does not ruin the overall look.
it also has the energy regen but with the added effect of 30% resistance to fire dmg (incase i get shot in the nether region) ...I do believe that dmg is random ie in head or chest or legs...
So in other words all the benefits of druids armour with some minor protection and padding for your behind (scales also provide nice protection from sharp thorns next to the campfire) from those nasty pyromancers.
Remember someone can only accuse you of missing if you call your target...other wise you MEANT to do that.

well, some earth skills ignore armor, add extra armor, and slow you down. Most earth skills are defensive

Hey hey hey, the elemental armors arent that bad. Maybe studded, but frostbound and drakescale are very useful with conflag/winter.

Let's see current sources of earth damage:
Stone daggers, Stoning, Eruption, Dust trap, Earthquake ( aftershock is just listed as "damage". )
Now count every other element....Earth Magic has only 4 earth damage spells, unlike Water, or Fire ( every spell except fire attunement )
Now factions brings new skills, e.g. Assassins get Crippling Daggers? wich is also earth damage.
IMHO it's a waste to have Earth Armour, my ele has it though, and likes it because I'm farming Earth titans all the time.

there is also earth damage weapon upgrades. we all know that elem damage ignores armor, so in PVP we are left with only 4x30 instead of 4x (30+15)armor against some hyper warior with earth damage hummer, or even worse, a earth bow spiker team...
if we would have that, i would wear it right away as soon as i see that were facin a spiker team or a hummer warior
scary...

Uh, elem. damage doesn't ignore armor. The only exception is dust trap's earth damage.
Quote:
Damage in Guild Wars results from actions taken by attackers that subtract a portion of a defender's health. This definition includes many attacks or skills (including spells) but does not include health degeneration, life stealing, sacrifice, or health reduction caused by skills such as Infuse Health or Illusion of Weakness.

Rangers have 100 (70+30) armor against elemental damage, 70 vs everything else..

the 70 base armor is not vs elemental, i'm realy sure its not protecting against elemental damage because in same link, they dont even bother mentioning it, all they mention is the 30 vs elem damage.

Base armor defends vs _everything_ aside from the mentioned things. Rangers have a base armor of 70 + 30 vs elemental (+15 for the subtype sets.. so thats 115 total).
Just like warriors have 80/85 base and +10/20 vs phys depending on their set.
Theres a reason it says "+30 vs X" in the tooltips you know, note the +...

I'd like to see Collectors Armor have +15 earth damage. Not only would all four be covered that way, but since Collectors is the first +70 armor you can get (in Crystal Desert instead of waiting till Droknars) and there are at least two major earth elemental creatures running around the desert (Hydras and Sand Drakes) it would make sense.

Yeah it would be nice if the Collectors ranger armour was the Earth armour. Its not like it would make the slightest bit of difference to anything, earth only really has 1 'commonly' used damaging skill that armour effects.
I take Druids over the rest anyday. No way in hell am i spending 15-30k on another few sets of armour to give me that little boost in armour vs 1 element and completely cluttering up my already full storage/backpack. What are you gonna do in FoW? Bring +Fire for the Shadow Eles, Hydra an i think Wurm Seige activates Mark of Rodgort too... +Water and +Lightning for the Skeletons. +Lightning for the Forest.
Armour to a particular element is the worst type in the game, plain and simple.
