Yeah, it's consistently overpriced relative to straight damage.
Even so, 3 of the 4 damage spells in my core build cause burning. But the most efficient is the 4th, Fireball.

Actually, "on fire" improves with respect to damage the higher your opponents' ALs get -- i.e., the higher level they are.
What really makes the difference is taking your Fire Magic from 13 to 16 with a sup rune. On Fire should extend to 4 seconds at 16 Fire magic. And 25 point spells are often expensive per unit of energy -- look at Conjure Nightmare, which is 160% of Conjure Phantasm for 5X the cost.

Yes...but in PvP (IMO in PvE), they're still not worth it. I'd take an Earth elementalist over a Fire anyday. Or even an Air, if we're in higher levels.
Burning makes the opponent scared (OMG IM BURNIN!!!!1!111) but that's it. <_<
What, you're dealing...56 damage for an extra...10 energy?
I still like sticking a Earth/Water or Earth/Air support character in the team, though.

ive never been a fan of incendiary bonds to be honest. i like francis' build it looks very solid but i would swap incendiary for conjure flame.. very underated skill imo and allows you to keep some pressure on even if you are low on energy of have a mesmer interrupting every spell you try and cast i hate mesmers

I'd put in Mantra of Resolve before Conjure Flame.
And yes, Incendiary Bonds is the one I'd take out for it.

ok,that seems a reasonable build,but i agree and say fireball is much better and it causes many creatures to b hit.most creatures run from fire storm.consume only gives about wat,5 enerrgy back?? i use the attunements for energy.

1- please try out the build before u burn it lol
2- firestorm does nice fast damage to many players with a fair recharge if u really really dont like it replace it with burning speed and use plague sending to get rid of the fire
3- mind burn is way better than u think especailly if they alrdy have at least 3 degen on them (thats the reason for rotting flesh). ive killed ppl in 12v12 with this spell alone. trust me its nasty.
4- true this is more of a pvp build but u can use any pvp build in pve rly lol
5- dont hate the immolate. that spell is worth so much im suprised its only 10 energy and 5 recharge. damage wise against most opponents with disease it will do about as much as fireball after the burning is over.
6- when ur targerting one person flare is way better than fireball. fireball is a nuking spell and this aint D2 so dont overrate it, its only worth 2 flares. 1v1 with 1 ele having flare and the other fireball the one with flare would win in about the time it takes the second to cast 2 fireballs.
7- at least try the mindburn disease combo then plz submit suggestions, comments, and any profanity about the build
btw francis if u were 1v1 me do u rly think u could take 55 damage a second (thats flare for all of u)
plus 11 degen

You meant 10 degen of course, right? Anyhow, whatever it is is close to being balanced by the self-healing from Aura of Restoration (my build gets more self-healing than yours, since it pumps through more energy).
Also, you meant 55 damage each 1.75 seconds or so (casting time plus aftercast), right? I used to make the same error, but then made sure to have a nice discussion so it was corrected here on the boards. And is that the figure at AL = 60 or AL = 70?
Off the top of my head I don't know which of us would die first if there were no monk to heal us. But if there were a monk on each side, I'm confident that my build would destroy yours.

So many "ur" and "ull" makes my eyes bleed. PVPing as in Pyromancer is tricky, useless and overpowered at the same time.
I would try this build for high dmg, fast casting spells and fast recharge:
Starburst
Flame Burst
Inferno
Burning Speed
Flare
Fire Attunement
Aura of Restore
Resurrection Signet

What's depressing is that you can spend 11 net energy Flamebursting somebody, and the monk more than repairs the damage with a 5 energy spammable spell.

1) It's not we haven't tried it, we all have. :P
2) Firestorm. People can walk out of it...simple...or they could interrupt it. Plus it has a horrible recharge. In PvE it scatters.
3) We have already tried it, it's proven it doesn't work. I want my skills to be good in any time in the game. Well...you could at least replace it with...Glyph of Renewal or Prodigy?
4) This is a PvP build? O_O
5) Immolate with Burning (I forget, assuming 4 seconds at 16, should be 3 though) (And assuming GWOnline's figures are 0...12) = 109 damage. If it's burning - 3s and the GWOnline stats are 0...16, then it would be 88 damage. Eurgh. Plus you'd have to face any armor, for that extra 46/53 damage.
6) With Flare, it's more of DPS. And it's even below a frenzying/TFing Warrior just plain swinging his damn axe. With fireball, you actually have some sort of a spike, albeit not much.
7) Rotting Flesh is good. But Rotting Flesh in here is just plain...out of place.
Flame burst is EURGH.

That build I posted is not meant to make everyone ALT+F4. Elementalists are not underpowered, sure the build is scary when you hit a soft target...but kinda kamikaze if you go on a warrior. Another thing is that Flame Burst and Inferno are fun spells to use, since no one uses them, I decided to give them a try.

They might be fun, but they aren't effective. Period.
You don't want to run to the backline of your opponent, start spamming your Flame Burst/Inferno and find out halfway through you're already dead.
There's a whole topic on how it's underpowered on damage. They're still great support...by spamming skills (Heal Party) on other professions. <_<

Agreed, PBAoE is extremely fun - and would be better if not for fact you are extremely squishy.
So for PBAoE I'd actually go for earth combos + some solid defense rather than fire...

And then you'd need a /A for Aura of Displacement...and then you're back to being a useless squishy in the backline after being Shattered by the Mesmer.

btw 3 sec burning plus 4 degen (disease) is a bit more than 88 damage try and calculate that agin. then calculate burning for 7 seconds straight plus the disease and post that up.
Francis im not gona lie but ur build is a nuking build mine is actually a 1v1 good nuking build though.
secondly if u guys love damage so much than go into air magic or earth magic fire magic is not known for pure damage its known for burning.
btw the reason y i think this build works is because it is basically the ele version of a degen mesmer (7 degen burning + 4 degen disease= 11 total degeneration) if u think those guys suk then u should pvp a bit more
if u still hate this build than burning aint ur thang go into air magic or earth magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
