I love air. I've had a whole party die apart from myself and managed to then finish them off. Sadly wasn't there with any res :E

Lightning Strike
Enervating Charge
Lightning Orb
Gale
Blinding Flash
Elemental Attunement
Air Attunement
Aura of Restoration

Gale can be swapped about with something else like Lightening Hammer or Chain Lightning. Gale can be useful as an interrupt of if you find a healing boss disable them for a few seconds. I much prefer Air though as its highly spammable and great at disabling melee based professions. If you remove Elemental Attunement you find you can't spam as much any more. Cast enchantments from top to bottom. That way Aura can be used as a cover enchantment in case of strips. Aura also only has a useful 5 second recharge.
Sadly though Fire is still the great damage dealing attribute. I find fire a little bit more enjoyable with the spammable Searing Flames/Glowing Gaze setup. Meteor Shower though is still a great skill.

Blinding surge/air attunement/glyph of lesser energy/orb/lightning strike/heal party/optional skill slots.

the option could be glyph sac+hard rez, a hard rez and draw conditions, a rez sig and aura of restoration, or whatever.

You have assistable damage and utility, which is all you can hope for on an air bar.

It's also core+nightfall.

What about Invoke Lightning? It's AoE with Lightning Orb damage, and the exhaustion is easily avoided. Recharge is a bit high, though.

So is cast time, and it ties up an elite spot, and if you want to tie up an elite on a damage skill I'd go with surge because it's blind+damage, and while I'm not a huge proponent of blinding flash in pve, I am a big fan of blinding surge because the damage+energy cost makes it incredibly, well, awesome.
