I should know, I've played an Elementalist most of this game and easily 1000 more hours then my Mesmer.

Indeed. It's not like most of pve requires Searing Flames effectiveness, and I can think of no form of PvP where snares are not impressively effective.

In terms of usefulness alone, Water is the undisputed king.
