Major
Next Update will include Screenshots, and maybe a little more questions answered if you ask them.
Introduction
Ok.... ive been lingering on these forums for some time, thought it was about time I made a build. I remember my numerous UW trips with the W/Rt build, courtesy of Witte until all my guildies began to tell me how fast they were slaughtering a massive group of smites with E/Me... and i began to get jealous. I dont particularly like spellcasters... so i didnt want to make an E/Me, and decided to have a play around with some Ele skills on my Warrior skillbar. During the making of this build... I learnt a lot, had great fun, and in the end came up with something POSSIBLY faster than the W/Rt (I dont want to get in an argument about whether it is or not, and I made the build simply for fun, for a chance to try something different), although nowhere near as safe.
Welcome to my first guide
Also, just in case anyone asks, I am aware that Rachtoh made a W/E build, but my idea was to make it with Ele skills dealing the damage. Gj though Rach.
Advance warning
This build is NOT easy. It requires timing, careful aggro control and fast reflexes. The main hard part are the grasps. As you can see, i cant go W/E/Me, so Visages or Mantras are out of the question. Only try this build if you fancy a challenge, but over time I hope to make it more newbie friendly, to make it easier and safer.
What you should already know
I expect you to have a decent knowledge of UW. That means:
1) Know how to avoid aggro when taking quest from the NPc.
2) Be able to lure carefully.
3) be able to realise when a nightmare appears.
4) Know how to run from the chamber to the Ice Wastes (smite area)
If not, i can demonstrate some of the above, mentioned later in the guide.
Thanks to
Sorry I havent started the guide yet... gotta say thanks :P
Witte - For the W/Rt build.
Koning - For the E/Me build.
X F L A M E S X and Eliona Ragers - For coming with me on one of the first tests, and making suggestions.
Connor the Bomber - For showing me the potential of the E/Me in a smite run, and offering tips/advice.
My friends at GoE for putting up with my numerous ramblings about 'damn interrupted ----' and for telling me that I will never do it (Thanks leader!).
Friends on the SMS alliance who regularly offered alternatives to certain skills and wished me luck, cheers guys.
If ive missed you, PM with reason.
Equipment
Sorry.... we have 1 more section to go through.
[i]Armour[i]
Gladiators:
Head - With a Major/Superior Vigor.
Chest - Sup Absorb.
Legs - Minor Tactics.
Stoneskin:
This is the armour that adds an extra second to KD. I love laughing at the poor smites who cant heal because of KD
Boots - Minor Strength
Arms - Any other rune, most likely Attunement or Recovery. Vitae could work as well.
[i]Weapons[i]: Note, you can probably do it without all 3 sets.
Set 1) Sword and Shield - Running set. Not necessarily needed. Also used for energy regen. Referred to as 'running set'.
Set 2) Wand with 15/-1 energy and HSR Earth 20% and a Focus with +12e 15/-1e. The req must be under 12. This is the second attacking set, which I will refer to as the 'high energy set'
Set 3) Totem Axe and the scroll above. This is the first of the attacking sets, which i will refer to as 'normal set'.
Set 4) Longbow or Flatbow. I just use a random non max bow. I will mention if you need to use this.
Dont think, oh god, i gotta buy everything. The only real sets you will need are 2 and 3. That is 1 offhand + 2 weps... not such a big deal
The Guide
Finally.... on to the guide. Hope you enjoy, and feel free to make suggestions/helpful criticism.
Attributes
Strength - 9 + 1
Tactics - 9 + 1 + 1
Earth Magic - 12.
Another note, if you want to use an egg, go ahead. Could speed it up
Skills
Yeah.. here finally. Hope you read the above.
[skill]Dolyak Signet[/skill]
[skill]Enraging Charge[/skill]
[skill]Bonetti's Defense[/skill]
[skill]Glyph of Concentration[/skill] - Replacement skill no1,
explained below.
[skill]Sandstorm[/skill]
[skill]Dragon's Stomp[/skill] or [skill]Earthquake[/skill]
[skill]Aftershock[/skill]
[skill]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill]
'Replacement skills'
You might be a little confused by this, but all I mean is that it is optional. I take Concentration to cover Stoneflesh/Sandstorm while vs grasps. If you have a better knowledge of when they will use interrupts (im terrible with timing), take a different Glyph or Heal sig. Or a 2nd running skill. Or another damage skill. Or... well you get the idea.
Step by Step Guide
1) Enter the UW. Pay 1k to the creepy grey thing. (NB.. If you dont know where to enter UW, stop reading this guide now).
2) Take the quest from the NPC in front of you. watch the aggro! If a nightmare appears, let him get closer, then wand him.
3) Move back to the center of the chamber, put Stoneflesh Aura on, and quickly run in and out of the grasps group to pull them. (NB.. I'm not going to explain this in detail, you should know how to do that). The aataxe shouldnt follow. If a nightmare appears, keep running. If he follows, put Doylak up, and wand him. (NB.. Sometimes the grasps get bodyblocked at the ghosts on the side wall, just change your position and they should come.)
4) Fighting the Grasps.
Ok, i dont like these guys. They have a handful of interrupts, plus Skull Crack which sadly goes through most protection skills, including Concentration (need verifying, but happened to me once, maybe i didnt have Concentration up). And, you dont have anything to prevent their energy/adren....so you just gotta tank them...Put Doylak up, Stoneflesh should already be on (from the lure).Your hit should have charged bonettis a little, keep hitting them with normal set, until it is fully charged, then activate it.
It should provide you with some nice energy. Now, renew Stoneflesh while covered with Bonettis. Your instinct should tell you when they have used all interrupts.
IF you do not get it up, keep hitting the grasps, till Bonettis is charged and hit that again. It would only be bad luck if they interrupt it a 2nd time, though it can be fatal, so cover with Concentration if you like.
Assumming that they havent interrupted it, now hit Concentration as fast as possible, then go into your combo of Sandstorm, Dragons Stomp/Earthquake, Aftershock. Sometimes your energy will be too low to cope with Aftershock, so switch to the high energy set. They have about 3 seconds KD anyway, so it shouldnt be anything too tedious. For me, It takes 2 rounds of Sandstorm to kill them, sometimes less, depending on interrupts. Personally, i dont like fighting them. In this build, there isnt much to stop them from slaughtering you if Bonettis and Stoneflesh are down. So, try to maintain at least one.
Sometimes when they are low on health, dont worry about using Sandstorm again, just hit Aftershock, or Dragons/Earthquake + Aftershock.
If you have any other queries about them - reply to topic or contact me in game. IGN is to the left of post. Dont just say 'omg they are interrupting too much', the same happens to me, and its really about timing and trial and improvement. Plus, if you desperately need adrenaline, sacrifice 5 energy to start enraging charge, and hit them for a few points.
5) Ok, so all grasps dead? Good, one hard part is over with. Now you have to run to the Ice Wastes, or as I like to call it 'Smitesville'.
I'm not going to explain much about the run there, but theres room for you to take a small pause on the way, as you only have 1 run skill.
For further information check the 'Links' section at the bottom, where I have added a few videos from other runs.
6) SMITESVILLE!!!! Sorry, couldnt resist.
These are pretty easy imo..although they do heal quite a bit. 2 Sandstorms is the norm. Ok, atm i havent tried any more than 1 group at the time due to
excessive healing, and HORRIBLE spike damage if you let Stoneflesh go down. But anyway, i guess I'll try a little more...soon.
a) Pull the group. Put Doylak and Stoneflesh up. You should have the normal set equipped.
b) Hit them with sword, use enraging to build more adrenaline if you need it.
c) Activate bonettis, you should renew Stoneflesh and Doylak at this time.
d) Let out your combo of Sandstorm, Dragons/Earthquake, Aftershock as fast as possible. In a group of 3, they should pretty much die instantly. If not, wand the last one.
e) If the group is 4, 5, (or rarely 6), the first wave of your combo should have their health down quite a bit. Repeat steps 'c' and 'd', and if 1 or 2 are left, change energy set and wand them. If they use SoJ, change target.
f) Pick up ectos
A few tips on smites :
1) Keep Stoneflesh up at all times, Doylak as well. This should reduce all damage (except an unlucky SoJ) to 0.
2) If you notice a sudden health drop, dont panic, think.
a) Are there any other creatures near you? e.g. Nightmare or Coldfire?
i) Nightmare - wand them... fast.
ii) Coldfire - your UW run is pretty much over. Just try to escape.
b) Has Stoneflesh/Doylak gone down?
i) Doylak - no big deal, just keep an eye on Stoneflesh, and put Doylak up whenever you have a chance.
ii) Stoneflesh. - if recharged, use it asap. If not, consider either running or hit smites a bit till you can get Bonettis up. I have to warn you, this should NOT happen.
c) Have you removed your armour?
i) Stop reading this guide...
3) Try to avoid Coldfires, and keep a wary eye/ear out for nightmares.
Guide conclusion
That is pretty much the conclusion of the guide. I have gone over how to kill Grasps and Smites, and Nightmares. If you have any more questions, PM me in game (Xtreme Xtreme) and I can demonstrate, as long as you pay half. I will also update thread regularly, maybe introducing a FAQ.
Please feel free to respond below, but dont spam, hurl abuse at me for making a cross between the W/Rt and E/Me, or just post something without actually TRYING the build.
Oh and in case anyone is dumb, this is NOT a PvP build, just to avoid you ending up....really bad.
Credits
Myself for coming up with a dumb idea, and a working idea -.-
The people mentioned in the 'Thanks to'.
Videos
I currently dont have any decent video recording software, other than a 30 second Fraps, and I cant get Gamecam to work, so I will not be making a video atm.
If anyone else wants to, PM me or reply here, and I will add video link and include your name in the 'Thanks to'.
Also, I am going to provide links to a few things.
Ok..
W/Rt UW - Might be a modification of Witte's build -
E/Me UW - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKtmzM9LcFQ
I think both include the run to smites, so there you are.
Thanks again for reading! Enjoy.
Oh, just realised its really long...sorry :P

Wow, you tried it fast :P
I guess its not so bad at grasps once you get used to it, smites are easy imo, just keep Stoneflesh up.
Glad to hear it works though, i thought Anet was just being kind
Edit : You might have noticed another thread, i accidentally double posted - ignore it and post in here

Nice build, i'll try it when America gets favor.
I remember someone came up with a W/E Fire Magic buid to Solo trolls outside droks, i wonder if you could use that same build against smites (i was actually thinking of trying this morning but my internet connection was acting screwy >.>) --Anyone think it could work?
