How to play like a pro elementalist?
Aye title says it all I guess I am a necro fanatic going to delve into the deep pits of the elementalists and I need tips on how to be viable and willed for me group...
Being it using water/earth whatever I just want to know how to get most out of the elementalist like I already do with my necromancer.
Thanks in advance ^_^

play is the best advice. I can't think of much to say, keep trying new things if it goes down badly don't worry look for what went wrong and fix it. Don't be scared to use high energy skills, energy is one of elementlists strongest points. keep an eye on your health however elementlists have, in general, much poorer self heal then other classes. This should not be such a big issue in PvE if you stay back (sort of like any caster).
Hope that helps.

Bring a bunch of fire skills; don't worry about anything else. Don't worry about e-management or self-defense. Use all your fire skills one after another, then say
"OMFGPWNZORZTEHENEM3"

I always wondered what made someone a "pro" at something in this game... If you get a real answer let me know.

Any1 can make money....... that doesn't really say ur a semi-pro tho. A pro has to know how to position himself, how to pick out a priority target/area ( depends on type of ele. Nuking = wherever most enemies r. 1 hit spells = a top target ), when to retreat so he can res the team for a second chance, when to stop atking and cover ur monk, HOW TO MANAGE ENERGY so they can be more useful and cast more spells ( u don't just go thru ur spells without any energy management or self heal. Normally water/fire/earth/air attunement and mystic regen is a nice self heal and energy management ), how to play builds other than the common metagame builds ( nice to know and all but have some creativity ), and just have some natural good old common sense. Also u don't look down on others ( even if u do pwn them. We were all noobs once that asked that question how the hell do we play this game ). And my last opinion of a pro ele is that they need to know how to link spells not just get the most powerful as usually they have to be linked to bring out full afects ( example - Lightning surge + Ash blast = around 180 dmg + some blind time. That right there is my version of a pro elementalist player. Its my opinion and others have their own but if u truly know what a pro ele is then I'm sure I hit a few pointers somewhere in there.

- Difference between pro gamers and average gamers is that average gamer play mostly randomly. In GvG he snares random targets and does not coordinate with team to get something killed. Kills come either through faults in other team's builds or lucky pressure.
Professionals read skill descriptions and understand that to warrant the use of Deep Freeze (instead of Ice Prison) the spell must hit more than one enemies who are meaningful targets of the spell. While pieces of advice like these may seem common sense, you can go and see for yourself what makes top guilds win games in observe mode.

In my view, an elementalist which could be considered "better" than another would be one which can match skills together on their skillbar in order to get the most out of them. Some skills require the effects of others in order to do bonus damage or have bonus effects. For example, Gust requires a water hex in order to knock down. In my mind, a more experienced elementalist knows they don't need to max out energy storage since an elementalist doesn't *need* 100+ energy to function properly and so knows how to use two elemental lines together, and when it is appropriate to do so. A good elementalist knows their enemies, and their strengths (this goes for any player) and so knows which elements or skills would be better placed in different settings.
That being said...there is no "pro"...there are only better and worse players. "Pro" to me doesn't sound right...but yea...like he said:

Human beings make mistakes, every one of them. A person who is pro will make less mistakes in doing what they are doing (the thing they are considered to be Pro at) than the average person.
A non pro can play a game just as well as a Pro but will make more mistakes (silly or otherwise). Its these mistakes that make the real difference between people.

What makes a good Ele? Pretty much what Celestial Beaver said; you need a build that works together providing a lot of damage while keeping your energy up. For example: If you use Searing Flames, which causing foe to burn for a few seconds, then use Glowing Gaze, you gain some of the energy that you used from Searing Flames, while still doing damage. Cast Fire Attunemente and Glyph of Lesser Energy, and you usually should have too many energy problems (that is, unless you spam Meteor Shower or whatever).
Another example of a build working together, thought it's not Ele, is using Spiteful Spirit and Reckless Haste. SS makes ajacent foes take damage each time they attack (correct me if I'm wrong), and RH speeds up the foe's attacking speed so they are attacking more, thus taking more damage.
Hope that helped....sorta....maybe not.

Learn that to cast a spell on a foe, they dont need to be in your agro range, they can be just outside it. Your tank will love you. Altho this advice goes for any caster.

I run Gate of Madness with 3 heroes (NM and HM). I use flare. I use Fire Storm. Never discount these skills.
Oh and, Savannah Heat > Searing Flames...
Oh, and one more thing. If you do decide to nuke... stand in your own nukes please... it just makes so much sense -_-
*Warrior attacks Elementalist!
*Elementalist casts Fire Storm!
*Elementalist proceeds to kite from warrior!
*Elementalist just got wtfpwnd
had the elementalist -stood- there in his Fire Storm
*Warrior casts frenzy
*Warrior stands there attacking elementalist
*Warrior just got wtfpwnd
.....we are talking about PvE right?

I wouldn't have considered rolling out an E/Me to go solo-farming in the Underworld for ectos so you can buy yourself expensive armor as "pro"...

Flare is crap. Firestorm is crap. There are much better DoT alternatives than Firestorm.
Good eles know about positioning. They know about when to drop meteor shower and when to not waste it on a mob that's about to drop. They know how to follow target calls while kiting enemy warriors.
Good eles also know that searing flames is not the best build for every given situation.
