Sorry if this high-jacks the thread....

Another thing I always wondered is why there is no Dragon Sword for Earth or Lightning...now that would be cool!

I don't see how this would compair. I think the OP's origional question is why isn't there an additional damage "conjure" for earth weapons... I don't think that Conjure Earth should add anything to ones armor level but just add to the damage of using Ebon weapons.

As for the earth and lightning dragon swords I would vote for that in a heartbeat!

umm, look at the earth magic line, it has a whole lot of defence compared to the other 3 lines, thats why there isn't a conjure earth, because then you'd be able to have a good defence+offence at the same time..

Right................and with conjure's being an enchant there would be no way of stripping that...........I don't see why there would be a problem with this, it would be an easy counter with mantra of earth anyway. Oh I forgot mesmers aren't one of the cookie cutter builds being run now a days.

you dont seem to understand how attribute lines work. skills of similar effect are grouped in the same line:

protection: no straight healing or damaging spells
swordsmanship: no running stances or healing skills
Earth Prayers: no random scythe attacks
ect.

you dont throw random skills in just because they wold be effective. skills need to fit with the attribute. the earth line is about defense. if you add in powerful offensive spells the earth line is able to run with no other attributes defeating the point of the attribute system. you need more than one attribute to make a well rounded character.

Which is why ZB needs to be a divine favor skill

So, why does Fire have speed buffs? I thought that was air's territory.
Why does water have armor buffs? I thought that was earth's territory.
Why does Air have an Elite AoE spell? I thought that was fire's territory.

Maybe you didn't notice, but there are some consistencies with the Elementalist lines. Such as "XXXX Attunement". Glowstone, Glowing Gaze, Glowing Ice (and on this subject, why doesn't Air get a Glow-Spell?). It just seems odd that they have all of these "themed" spells, and then leave one of the elements out.

As for conjure earth, what's the purpose of an Ebon Weapon these days? Is there any reason to use one over a Shocking or Icy one, or is there still a "surprise factor" of having an earth weapon. Is anything even weak against earth? O_o

Fire has a PBAoE skill with a side effect.
water has a few armor buffs, thats not "earth's territory"
elite AoE skill? Invoke Lightning? thats a chain spell, it hits 3 targets, its not AoE.

The "theme spells" all fit in their attributes. conjure earth dosnt.

I'm thinking that with Conjure Earth, your weapon would weigh more, hence more destructive power.

However, it would definitely be imba.

IE: Imagine if those conjure dervs could suddenly drop Wounding Strike for AoM... scary.
