Elemental Weaknesses
For PvE, some enemies you know have an affinity for some elements. [think Ring of Fire foes are all weak to ice and I'm guessing Shiverpeak ice creatures are weak to fire... I think]
Does this game have an elemental rock, paper, scissors mechanic to them? [this is considering carrying several elemental axes on my part.]
From what I can tell, Fire weapons hurt icy foes and Ice weapons hurt titans and the like for an extra % of damage. I'm not sure what percent is though and the guild wiki doesn't give much explanation.
Is it beneficial to have 1 of every elemental weapon in your storage for these pve situations?
edit:
this is off on a tangent cause the games are different but... An example of this would be found in Ragnarok Online as a Rock Paper Scissors elemental weakness mechanic:
Wind > Water
Water > Fire
Fire > Earth
Earth > Wind
The greater elements deal more damage and receive less damage towards the lesser elements.

IMO it's a waste of space to carry every elemental weapon. In PvE, it doesn't really matter too much but damage is damage.

Well, mainly you only really need fire or cold. There are lots of enemies vulnerable to either of those. There's not much use for the other elements unless you have certain skills needing it. Otherwise, zealous is good enough for everything else.
Oh, and you'll probably do more damage to enemy warriors too if you're using an elemental weapon and probably less to enemy rangers.

It depends, and it's a lot of work to test. Siege Ice Golems take double damage from fire, but Ice Imps take normal damage.
I have fiery and icey swords, but I never use them, and I have an ebon sword, but that's noob.

The only element you should bother having on hand is Cold, as it's used to trigger Spinal Shivers.

every enemy has a different elemental weakness, but most of the time vamp will do more damage. I would bring 1 icy weapon for specific situations.

I never said I'd carry all four elements on me. [that's what storage is for] I'd just carry the proper element. Ring of Fire = icy axe, etc.
Right now, I only have Chor's Axe and am going to get Shon's Reaver (or whatever the GW:EN unique elemental axe is) In another thread, somebody mentioned that this fire axe is better due to being able to use conjure flame. I've got W/E as an option for job changing.
But if what most of you is saying is true, then elemental weaknesses don't exist in this game [fark] or if they do, the damage dealt is negligible.
I spent quite a few days farming Chor's stupid arse to get his god darned axe... Now I'm wondering if Shon's Reaver would be worth it? [I almost never use my W/E variant unless I'm just messing around in RA or someting]

Actually there's quite a bit of information..
Go here.
For each damage type, it shows resistance and weakness.
I think the percentage increase in damage isn't specified simply because of the varying armor and monster levels. Ensign could figure it out. *shrug*
I'd say it's worth it if you have the upgrades laying around, like many of us do. It doesn't take that much effort to slap it onto a max damage collector weapon.

In my experience, the damage difference is definitely not negligible. Using a fire weapon + conjure flame against a Ice Golem is a noticeably easier kill. I would guess at least 25-50% more damage, though I confess I've never tested.
However the only ones that I can think of that have really glaring weaknesses to damage types are weaknesses to Fire (Icy enemies), weaknesses to Ice (burny enemies), and to holy damage (the undead, whom are also vulnerable to fire). In GW, its not nearly as rock-paper-scissors oriented as many RPGs tend to be with elemental damage.
Still its useful to carry an elemental weapon simply due to its use in PvP against your fellow Warriors. 20 armor is significant.

Agree with all that.. and I'd guess 25% would be more than a +3 from a vampiric upgrade.

Meh. I was pretty sure they were, but now that I try to look it up I can't find anything. I was probably wrong.
-20AL vs Blunt, +20AL vs Piercing, though.

thanks TON!
From the looks of it, Fire eats ice and earth [erm... plant?] Weird ways to sort out damage, that's for sure.
