Elementalist Aggro Control
I was wondering if someone had written a guide on aggro control with the elementalist- with the growing number of elementalists because of the demand for them in HM, there are many unexperienced ele's who do not know how to control aggro if the need arises- If a tank loses aggro, an experienced elementalist can drive the attackers back toward the tank, and use aoe to keep them there. An elementalist also should know the exact timing needed for each spell in order to prevent aggro break from the flight instinct programmed into the AI.
So, is there anything of the sort already around, or should I make one?

If a tank loses aggro, make the ele's job easier and just have all the casters run INTO the ele's meteor shower/firestorm/other aggro breaking spell. I bring firestorm in my fire ele build PURELY for this very reason. However, its much easier for a group of casters to run into the ele's firestorm, than it is to the ele to chase groups away with AoE castings.

The thing about good pulling is that nukers and bonder monk should know not to get into tanks aggro bouble... You know you can cast spells just few feets back from tanks aggro bouble. @nd thing is to learn how to rubber nuke... If you're experienced then you should seen how it works in DoA , as for keeping aggro people get into a panic once they seen one or two left the aggro and are coming for them... If a monk is good that should be a problem, but the thing is everyone relies on exp eles and not exp monks. Good monks=survivability and won't panic or run away and leave the party all alone.
Eles should just finish those who left the aggro if it's possible... somtimes a monster monk will come to heal, making it sometimes even worse... but if your tank has good skills with grasping earth or ward that would keep them for a while. I know my place of learning how to nuke was DoA.
Slaver's Exile is just full of newbs now and that's why most party get wipe, ether cuz eles can't rubber nuke, monks get into the aggro circle to heal the tank, or tank can't tank and gets into panic once one of his skills are interrupted.... And none use vent and none follows the skill order, casting Searing Heat before MS and SH... no wonder they'll scatter around

Berek- I did search, and didn't find one, hence the question. Guru search never seems to work too well for me.
I Will Heal- I know all that. I wanted to know if there was a guide in place explaining that, and more.
All I need is a simple yes or no...

Never should have asked. People here can be such a pain sometimes...
It isn't that hard to answer one damn question, instead of unwanted babble.

Don't waste your time asking, if you want to write a guide then go ahead but unless it's well written and has good info don't bother posting it.

You're totally correct, I often give up posting at GWGuru because I know of all the 1337 talk I'll be forced on by some supposed 'know-it-alls'. It's funny how they claim to know and be good at everything-GW but can never teach anything.

- Mobs prefer targets with low health/armor
- Mobs ignore targets outside their aggro circle unless they get attacked by them
- The target already attacked by Mobs gets a huge aggro bonus
With these three hints any intelligent player should know how not to break aggro from the tank.

this is so full of fail...
eles are not in demand in HM. frankly eles kinda suck in HM compared to armor ignoring damage.
tanks are fail. good players do not use tanks. bad players fail with tanks and blame the ele.
Instead of using AoE to keep foe balled up (WTF) try using AoE to KILL.
exact timing is different with each build and takes practice.
I dont believe there is a guide. and please dont write one, you obviously do not have the understanding of game mechanics needed to write a guide.

ok ill write you all a good guide for aggro control:
step 1. find a different party other than someone advertising they have an obs flesh warrior.
step 2. bring a useful skillbar, not some randon meteor/metshower/flare bar that is complete trash.
step 3. Kill things.
repeat.

Since they fixed this, no. They no longer aggro solely to the gear anymore.

ok, that tank was pro tho ;-)
Also in HM you are better of using your ele as support. A ward against melee/aegis/heal party is much more usefull then a meteor shower =)
The tank - Nuker - Healer setup is old and outdated, doesn't work that well anymore. New updates in the AI and because there are much better options then tanking atm (paragon's).
I would stick to a Mind Blast ele and use the necro's and warriors as damage dealers

Imho, if you are targeted, and as a squishy, you will be targeted, it's acutally quite effective to have an AoE spell handy to discourage melee attackers from sticking to you. I include FS

Seriously, the best way to aggro control with an ele is to freaking stop using AoE spells that trigger the 'runaway-ai'. The only AoE spell that I think is worth taking along is Rodgort's Invocation. High damage, burning, and no triggering of the 'runaway-ai'. Further more, due to the high energy pool of an ele, /mo is really recommended for Aegis and extinquish (when vanquishing areas that are known to have disease, burning or lots of traps).
But yeah, do not use:
-Savannah heat
-Firestorm
-Maelstrom
-etc
Even meteor storm imo is a liability in some areas that resist knockdowns.
I'm currently vanquishing Elona with my brother and I run (with 2 ele henchies) the following:
-Mindblast
-Mark of rodgort
-Rodgorts invocation
-glyph of lesser energy
-Aegis
-Extinquish
-Fire atunement
-Res signet
It has been working so far. In addition we have one MM bomber for the extra conditions:
-Summon bone minnions
-Summon shambling horrors
-Jagged bones
-Putrid explosion
-Death nova
-Blood of the master
-Res signet
-Taste of death (rarely seen hero AI use this, might change that)

Posts like this restore my faith in the PvE community. Dark bond over taste of death IMO.
