This thread has helped to practically completely erase and reconstruct my perspective on caster equipment. Great stuff.
Don't know if this is said (enough), but Ensign, your posts are invaluable.

I use that 3 pip set because it's nearly as deep as a full one, but you keep a pip and get the enchanting part. I end up riding my Prodigy pretty low at the stand, and end up swapping into this set freqently. So being able to put Prodigy back up on this set at full strength after casting a spell or two is pretty huge.
The shield set, I want the negative to let me ride the Prodigy up quite a bit more between fights without punching myself as hard, and being able to swap away damage is awesome. I've gone back and forth between a -5 energy spear of enchanting and a wand here, having to choose between wanding and enchanting...and wanding won out. But this one I've had go either way.
Current energy manipulation is pretty huge. I really don't care how much energy I have on my staff, because with Prodigy I'm going to ride it down to 0 anyway. It's just going to change the ratio of how much damage I hide compared to how deep my 3 pip set is, and that's not a deciding factor on what to use.
Peace,
-CxE

On the 3 pip set, do you mean that you use a wand with a focus, or a staff with a focus, or a staff with a +15/-1 inscription? As far as I know, the inscriptions for focuses don't happen if you're equipped with a 2 handed weapon..
Also on the low energy, last set.. I'm not sure where all those numbers go. XD
You put recharge inscriptions on the shield, and use a -5 energy, recharge wand? There's such a thing?

He uses a sword of enchanting and a +15/-1 energy offhand he meets the req for. The enchanting mod on the sword works better with prodigy mechanics.
And you can get -5 energy wands, just equip a 15% damage -5 energy in the inscription slot and get the 20% recharge on the wand.

Ensign=win. I'm an ensign fanboy.
There's also a great post about why you should stay in a shield set as much as possible, something I try to do a lot: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...wap-id1725.php
Once again, another essay on game mechanics. Invaluable stuff.

I use one and only weapon:
Staff
11-22 (req9 E.Storage)
20% HSR (all)
Seize the day 15/-1
Insightful +5e
Fortitude +30
Why energy storage?
Because any elem build requires it.
Why no HCT?
because the build I use (SF) requires little casting time and thus no need for HCT mod (except M.Shower). For any build HSR si good, HCT is in most cases dispensable.
Why 'Seize the day'?
Because I can have (with a major ES rune) 98 energy. And since there is always a battery necro around (hero/hench or player), the degen doesn't hurt much.

Why not simply Hajkor's (11-22, 20/20) and flame artifact (+12, 20/20)...Works fine for me :P
And yes, the artifact is indeed blue...Have to agree with Captain Fizz here, it's for fast recharge and (when using Rodgort's Invoc. or Meteor Shower) fast casting time

Everlasting Shadow/Ghostly Staves?
Setikor's Scepter?
Menzes's Ambition?
Shekoss' Staff?
Droajam's Storm . .
When did all this stuff come about?
Jeez, i was still waiting for Mallyx's Endurance/Perpetuity to fall in price and now ^that^ . .
Is there any other new stuff out that I'm missing? (or if any of those have been out for some time and I just never paid attention . . )
(not including the tormented weapons... those are gonna be out of my budget for a few years to come)

Alright, so I started a Mist-Farming build and came to the conclusion that the best weapon of choice for said build is the staff that I despise the most...
Infact my second post here in this thread is a sweet lil' rant about it . . But anyway, I went and got myself a replica of Rago's Flame Staff and although its serving my build well, I still maintain that people buying the actual Staff are inherently void of any sense of reasoning and . . .
I can't afford the real thing!

i am always surprised to see Ele's using a +5 on their caster sword/spear/axe as opposed a 10% to go along with the 20% enchant mod. If energy is an issue, you shouldn't be nuking and you shouldn't be using that build. It's all about recharge/casting time for me.
