Default Help With Ele Build

Hello everyone!

I play mostly in PvP (AB to be exact) and I have been watching that Elementalist's kick so much ass. This spurred me to think, "hm I wanna kick ass in AB too....maybe I should create my own Ele I can use."

So I did that, and I wanted to let you guys critique my build. Keep these things in mind when critiquing: I just created this build and it hasn't been used yet, I have access to only Factions and Core skills, and I am open to any kind of suggestions - whether it be changing the build completely, or even adding in a second profession.

On to the build~

Elementalist/Any

Fire Magic - 12+1+1
Energy Storage - 12+1

[Double Dragon][Glyph of Lesser Energy][Fire Attunement][Aura of Restoration][Bed of Coals][Meteor][Immolate][Inferno]

Now, in my mind this is how the build "should" work:

- I find my target (possibly call him/her)
- Use Aura of Restoration/Glyph of Lesser Energy/Fire Attunement on myself before getting to my target
- Set off Bed of Coals then follow up with Meteor
- Hit 'em with Immolate
- End with Double Dragon
* Inferno will be used when facing mobs or capping

Hopefully it looks good to you guys as well!

(also, could anyone tell me how to create like a whole template on this forum that can be saved - like the ones where you can input the attributes and stuff?)

[Double Dragon] is horrible, [Star burst] is better in every possible way.

You should also be using a run skill for AB, as with [Meteor Shower] > [Meteor]

Be warned that [bed of coals] is practically useless because it's set down at your location, making [Fire Storm]better to target foes from range, and [Lava Font] for close-up encounters.

Your energy management is quite good however, but I would question the use of [Aura of Restoration].

Meteor will be interupted 8 out of 10 times, its just way to slow. Might work in RA though as they are less likely to bring interupts. I don't play ele so i cant help you with you're build, but as a Warrior and Ranger player I can tell you that I interupt those long casting spells almost always.

Ehh... Factions and Core only? Most of the fire elites for those suck... I'd give you an old Starburster build, but at least 3/8-4/8 of the bar requires Prophecies.

The only good skills on that bar are Fire Attunement, Glyph of Lesser Energy and Immolate.

The only good Fire elites from what you have are Starburst, and Elemental Attunement, which can be used with anything.

My suggestion is using a build like this:

[elemental attunement][fire attunement][teinai's heat][immolate][ward against melee][fireball][maelstrom][resurrection signet]

12+1+1 Fire, 10+1 Earth, 8+1 Energy Storage.

Maelstrom against grouped up casters, Teinai's against grouped up whatevers, Ward Against Melee when you've got melee approaching, Fireball and Immolate as basic damage skills.

Since this is AB, I suggest using the above build, but removing res for Death's Charge, Elemental Attunement for Starburst and Maelstrom for Glyph of Lesser Energy.

You probably want to go as a fire ele, but if you have a couple mins give this build a try:

[Unsteady Ground;OgBCkMzzOsH6DNGwCkBtIVA]

That build is probably your best bet with factions, because most of the time unsteady ground will be striking people who are attacking.. theres a nice source of blind, kd and utility from ward against melee.

Hey, maybe you could even mix [unsteady ground] with [bed of coals] for some burning on top of the kd.

A nice running skill that can be used for running from a mob or whatever is [dash] or [dark escape] (although dark escape requires further investment into shadow arts..) which fits your factions only requirements.

You'll want some defense too, [smoke powder defense] could be nice for protection from physicals.

Alright, I tried out this and I must say - it works great! Thanks, Proff!

The only problem I had with this build was that I wanted a self-heal. So, I changed to /Mo and stuck in [Healing Breeze] in the place of [Glyph of Lesser Energy] and put some attribute points into Healing Prayers.

I also plan on taking out [Ward Against Melee] as well. Any of you guys have any suggestions of what I should put in the place of it?

I will probably stick with this build with some tweaks, but I may also try Water at some point. After Double Dragon was ruled out, it seems that there are not any other good Fire Elites in Factions/Core so there is no need pursuing a Fire Ele.

IF youreally wanted to take off [Ward Against Melee], add a snare such as [Grasping Earth] for those annoying melees.
Or go on a [Unsteady Ground]->[Ash Blast]->[Dragon's Stomp]->[Aftershock] spike.

You replaced [Glyph of Lesser Energy] with [Healing Breeze] ? Can you please remove [Healing Breeze] and put [Glyph of lesser energy] back plz. If you want healing your team can bring a healer and you have [Aura of restoration] for some minor healing. Also, [Ward against melee] is excellent when your team get stuck in a mob or or capping physical shrines, its a great skill. Of course if your really don't want it you can bring [Grasping earth] as was mentioned above. Grasping is great for surviving as well as snaring.

If you want to try water, Factions has [Shatterstone] which is a great water elite for AB.

I like that you guys were so quick to offer builds for him. However, I noticed flaws with each one. For example, the Unsteady Ground build relies on that skill. If its interrupted, you can count yourself as good as dead(and not just warriors and rangers interrupt, mesmers do also). All builds have a weakness...to me, a lot of these have flaws that need to be worked out, but knowing you guys, you'll probably find a way around the flaws

Well I replaced [Glyph of Lesser Energy] because I really don't have a need for it - I don't have any problems with my Energy. Just so that I don't have to be reliant on the Monk in the team, I put [Healing Breeze] in there.

Also, [Grasping Earth] won't work for me; unfortunately I don't have access to Prophecies. So, I may just stay w/ [Ward Against Melee] or I may just go with [Aftershock]. I'll play around with both and see what happens.
