Default Bear club for (wo)men

Has anyone managed to come up with an ele build that takes out the rabid bear? I have tried loads of combinations but the beast has a health regen of about 6 and I just can't lay down enough damage to take him out whilst still staying alive.....

Hit him in the head with the big hammer you got from the nice lady.

No, I'm serious, it would work.

Hold the hammer and load up with a dual attunement Air Build.

Blinding Flash and Spam Lightning Orb + Lightning Hammer.

So long as you're holding the hammer you win.

Dual attunes air build should work, just take "YMLaD!" and/or Gale to interrupt his Troll.

dual attune should work, you can try a degen build using burning from mark of rodgorts+fire weapon and using degen from the mesmer line, just make sure you wield the club

Same here. Ursan wouldn't cut it post-nerf and I couldn't deal enough damage to take him down before running out of energy.

Spirit Spam = easy win.

I went E/Me on the bear and, holding the club, used:

[signet of midnight][empathy][spirit of failure][spirit shackles][mind wrack][conjure phantasm]

The last two skills are your choice ([[glyph of restoration] or [[aura of restoration] might be a good choice in case the bear gets any swings through the blindness). But really, just hex the thing up and keep it under blindness, it'll kill itself long before it kills you.

I'd say sins have the easiest time beating him from [[sneak attack] + fast attack chain (Moebius/blossom a good one of course) to a standard [[critical defenses] build or even the recently buffed [[flashing blades].

You only need to be holding the hammer when you kill him so if you use a skill like [[imaple] to finnish him off your all good.

Deadly arts builds could work as well but much slower.

Of course you want an interrupt in each one but then [[Disrupting Dagger] is easy to take.

Blocking will make you eat dirt due to [[Leviathan's Sweep]. Spirits or blind/weakness are better.

I'd love to know your build. My warrior with a hammer helm and hammer skills had trouble bringing the bear down with the club. It's the whole high armour + high regen thing - I think she used a proper hammer for most of it.

For pretty much everyone that has it, blind is probably your best friend - keep it blind and as well as not being able to damage you, it'll also be slow to build adrenaline for Defy Pain (which is annoying when you've just switched to the club and it uses Defy Pain, or, worse, when Defy Pain expires when you DON'T have the club in hand). Fortunately, most physical damage dealers have Sneak Attack.

Once it's blind, you basically just need to dish out enough damage to overcome its regen, and it will (eventually) go down. Most builds that can take down Magni could probably also take down the bear, and doing so might actually be advised so you can have Finish Him - which is a good way of finally knocking it over in a controlled manner once it gets low enough.

Default Easiest way for an Elem

This is the easiest way to beat this thing with & can be done with core only skills.

go */R (from another guildwarsguru thread)

Apply Poison
Distracting shot (troll unguent)

You can then use other skills for blocking/healing/prevention
or even easier:

Ebon Escape to a 2nd row norn observer

I probably tried my elem on 15 different builds and never got it. With the ranger subclass I got the dumb bear on the 1st try. But you equip the bear club in hand before it dies!

if you go sin secondary and put on vipers defense you can just warp outside of the ring and then him the bear from safety. if you are sin primary then just go ele secondary and nuke him while outside the ring

its cheap but it works :P
