Default Terra question: Shadow Refuge or Feigned Neutrality

so, i've been running all areas as a terra and i have one question. why do people seen to like to FN (Feigned Neutrality) over SR (Shadow Refuge)? i know that FN lasts longer but SR is alot more spamible and give +2more regen. am i missing something?

FN=1/4 sec cast, SR=1 sec.

People usually just like the +80 armor and faster cast on FN

But again...it's just all preference, either way u'll finish your area if you're a good terra.

I usually take FN when doing pools, mainly because the armor helps with the charged you run into..For mtns, SR is generally better.

Terras still use Earth Magic (Stoneflesh / Sliver Armor).

So? Lot's of other people can do the same thing, nothing to brag about.

Back on to topic, FN is generally good if you think you will be in tight situtions often(pvp wise) and SR is generally good for a mild self heal.

feigned neutrality for the armor. i've seen shadow sanctuary used also because you can keep casting thru it

+80armor on something that takes nearly no damage? I don't see the point.
Go shadow refuge imo, the heal you get only requires you to time one attack after 4/5 seconds.
+80armor will probably make you take 3 damage instead of 6-7 (IF you're taking 6-7dmg) :s

If interrupts are a problem, then FN, but really in that case it's way less efficient.

Shadow Sanctuary.
At the post above me: There are plenty of stuff in UW that hits through SF with more than 6-7 dmg.

I think also part of the issue is FN stops if you use another skill or attack.
Quote:
Enchantment Spell. For 4...9 seconds, you have +7 Health regeneration and +80 armor. This enchantment ends if you successfully hit with an attack or use a skill.
So this is why the Sin in Vale take SR instead. This also means, if you are carrying FN be sure to sequence your skills correctly, that is have SF up with lots of time if you need to us FN, because if you have recharge SF, it will cancel FN.
Quote:
Enchantment Spell. For 4 seconds, you gain 5...9 Health regeneration. When Shadow Refuge ends, you gain 40...88 Health if you are attacking.

the main part of FN that i do not like is the fact it ends if you cast anything. i've ran both but to be honest, i really don't run pools that much. i can see that the extra armor would help. thanks.

+7 regen and taking 19 dmg from Shock (aka Charged Blacknesses) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > +9 regen and 87 dmg from Shock.

'nuff said.

Feigned Neutrality stomps Shadow Refuge into the ground.

For Pools I take FN, as you can predict better the need for FN and encounters (so sequencing usually is not an issue) with Charge Blackness, but for Mountains, I find SR is better. For mountains you want to be attacking the Behemoths to interupt there spirits and traps, so you are constantly wanding or spearing them, so this is why I find FN fails in this role and SR is better. For AC buff when you approach you can use IAU (+24) which is not as good as FN, but a good buff to help mitigate trap initial damage. Also take a 20% shorter bleeding Rune or Shield buff for Mountains as this will help as well. You can Spam SR, so watch your energy so when SF comes up you have energy to cast it.
