One of the best factions-only, pve, ele builds is the geomancer, IMO. Factions doesn't provide great fire elite and none-elite skills for an effective damage-dealing nuker as prophecies and nightfall by themselves. I know this off a friend's factions-only account. Mind burn elite? Horrible in pve. Starburst and double dragon? Aweful!
Besides geomancers for pros and nukers are for dummies.
Build:
Attributes:
Set all your numbers in earth and energy.
Equipment:
Weapon: Earth staff with energy and enchanting 20% mod.
Armor: maxed (60)
Insignia and Runes: superior rune of earth magic for head piece with radiant insignia. Superior rune of energy, superior rune of energy magic, or major vigor, 2 attunements all with blessed insignia.
Skills
1. Aura of restoration
2. Earth attunement
3. Obsidian flesh
4. Sliver armor
5. Ward Against foes or melée (ur preference)
6. Stone daggers
7. Obsidian's flame
8. Churning of Earth
Usage.
You are not tank. Remember that. So don't go Emo ur team. If they suck, leave. Let's the warrior tank and the rest of ur team get a group of foes distracted.
B4 stepping in, cast and maintain skills 1 and 2.
Step in and cast the ward on the foes as if you are wrapping around a round shaped honey glazed donut.
Cast skill 3 if you become the target of enemy spells. Use sliver armor if melée get to the back or midline to come after you. Attack with skill 8. Use stone daggers for range attacks on casters. Use skill 7 on tanks, assassins and dervishes. Notice I seperated dervish and sins from tanks cuz they suck for tanks. Dont use too much of skill 7. It causes exhaustion.
If you wish to equip any red skills replace skill 7.
Great build In alliance battles. It annoys your foes who can't break through your build.

If you seriously need more energy on an Elementalist, use "energy management". GoLE is a good skill for this.

Seriously, how bad can this get?
There is no reason to spec superiors when your strong point is your defensive power. You're not gaining much by having a few seconds on your Ward (And if you're not done with the mob before it ends get better at killing) or your selfish defense crap.
You also don't need radiants or attunements, and the fact you have additional energy as a primary attribute ready for investment adds to this. Why you're also using a superior for this is beyond me.
Also, Stone Daggers and Obs Flame are bad skills. Obs Flame is only "decent" in a spike team, and that's utilising Glyph of Energy.
[unsteady ground][ward against melee][stoning][enfeebling blood][earth attunement][no skill][no skill][resurrection signet]
This is assuming you've only got Factions and you're playing in Normal Mode. If you've got every game but Proph and are playing in Hard Mode...

Aura of restoration is to keep your health up. What you expect the monk to do all the work for you? Monks do have to heal everyone and keep themselves alive at the same time.
Sliver armor is when the tanking foes actually breaks through the front and reaches for you. That does happen.
Obsidian's Flesh is when you become the target of enemy spells including from mesmers and necromancer.
Ok you complained about the build and suggested unsteady ground? That made no sense. Have a balanced build that owns. The Earth Ele is the best because it's balanced for defensive and offensive.
The runes suggested are perfect because they provide energy and defends the ele while enchanted.
The build owns and Earth Eles barely die off this build. Yours however, is too breakable. You can always whisper me and put it to the test.

Doing your bit doesn't mean you use a skill slot on something which can be done with the click of a mouse button or the usage of a skill that has the ability to be useful outside of selfishness.

Kite or as given in the bar I posted, use Unsteady Ground and kite.

You really waste your elite? What makes you think that if they can hit your other skills they can't hit your ObsFlesh?

I believe you should be posting in that "self-ownage" thread, now. I find it highly amusing you're telling me that the suggestion of Unsteady Ground is a bad one yet you're using Obsidian Flesh. Please actually give me a reason before you bin it as a skill that doesn't balance in the midst of offense and defense, whereas Obs can only be used as selfish defense.

You don't need energy if you have energy management. Explain how the runes suggested are perfect. I'll give my explanation.
For one, you have a primary attribute giving you 3 energy per point. You also have GoLE in that very same attribute line, which is useful even at 0 Energy Storage.
Two, you have radiants, attunements, +20 energy off a staff and you sacrifice -75 health for an extra 9 energy. That is cutting off your survivability heavily while producing unneeded energy as long as you don't suck at energy management.
Three, -75 health isn't worth the miniscule damage increase upon a few of your skills. When you use a +10AL inscription on your armour, it only applies to the piece you used it on which is all based on chance pretty much.

Explain. You're using 3 skills for self-sustainability, and that's pretty much half of your bar. Not dying much isn't a problem unless your Monk is godawful and you're so bad at managing your own survivability without the use of selfish skills. Also, you've got 2 superior runes at that.
My bar is only "breakable" because I'm sacrificing self-sustainability for skills that are versatile and effective not just in a defensive scenario, but in an offensive one too. I shouldn't need to explain, but if you feel the need to ask me of that (which I shouldn't need to expect) just mention it in your next post.

I disagree, This build is working great.
And instead of trying to hard to prove that his build sucks,
You could have just given me a full better build.
What the thread was originally made for.
That what I use. No AoE spreading. Spam 3 spells. Sometimes I put some points in Earth Magic and bring [ward against melee]. In not earth, I could put some points in water for [maelstrom] to interrupt those powerhouse bosses. Or if I want AoE, I put some in fire and bring (In your case) [fire storm] and [Teinai's Heat] You can go many ways.

Reason: spellling
it seems you've already made up your mind but you really should try Tyla's build. It provides a great amount of defense not only for you but for your whole team by using offensive knockdowns. Enemies can't attack or cast spells on you or ANYONE if they're knocked down.
Remember the best offense is a good defense.
The combo Zodiac posted is actually pretty good as well, Lighting Orb followed by hammer is a very strong single target combo. And it's fairly spammable, provided you're using the dual attunements like he suggested, also GoLE helps out a great deal.
