Ele/A Tankish (in progress)
I've had a Lot of success with my own hybrid Build lately and wanted to share it as well as get some pointers on how to maximize the build somewhat. If this builds been done, then forgive my Ignorance I'm a little new to the Game and have not had the time to research the thousands of build that have been posted all over the internet.
My Build as it currently stands, but not complete yet.
[build prof=W/A name="Crusty Nuker" Air=11 Earth=12 Energy=5+1+3][Ebon Hawk][Stoning][Crystal Wave][Teinai's Wind][Whirlwind][Aftershock][Death's Charge][Aura of Restoration][/build]
The basic Idea here is to start of with AoR, then Death's Charge to the center of a mob. Then hit them with Whirlwind for the initial knock down, followed by aftershock which deals double damage to knocked down foes. Next I follow with Crystal wave, which just deals some nice AoE damage, and then hit them with Teinia's wind for another knock down. The nice part about this is that both the wind spells are almost the same and only cost 5 Mana per cast so you can almost spam them at will.
[Ebon Hawk] and [Stoning] are there for the ocasions you need some ranged attacks and they work well together too, Ebon causes weakness, and stoning causes knock down to foe that are weakened so it's a good combo, and sometimes I lead with that then use deaths charge.
Eventually I'd like to replace [Death's Charge] with [Wastrel's Collapse] so that I can charge in and lead with aftershock, and save the whirl wind for the spamming. (and dump the shadow points)
This build I had very little issues with while tanking in a full party on Hell's Precipice
The key of course to staying alive is [Aura of Restoration] and whatever buffs you can get from your local monk. I have considered dumping the ranged spells and adding in [Magnetic Aura] and [Ward Against Elements] but that leaves me rather limited to only self targeted AOE.
So thats the Build. I'd appreciate any suggestions that might make this better. Please don't rant on the build unless you've tested it though, it's worked quite well for me.
Also running with 545 Life and 76 Energy doesn't hurt
Follow Up, I actually Started with a Cold/wind build on this, but Opted to go with earth but the premise is still the same. Lots of self target AOE with [Aura of Restoration] saving your butt.

BTW [Wastrel's Collapse] description is either wrong on these forums or wrong on the wiki.
Should read:
Elite Skill. Shadow Step to target foe. Causes knock-down if target foe is not using a skill. Disables your non-dagger attack skills (10 seconds).

In many parts of the game, [Aura of Restoration] alone won't be enough to keep you alive. Bringing [Kinetic Armor] [Stoneflesh Aura] [Armor of Earth], the latter two being the better choices, may help. Also, that build reeks of energy rape the way you're using it; bring [Earth Attunement].
There might be some scatter caused by your AoE, but I'm not sure how to remedy it without tearing your build apart altogether.

When I messed with fire AoE's I got scatter, but earth and wind seem to hold to mob ok. Might be the knockdown. Looking for a good replacement for Crystal wave actually because it removes conditions and cost a lot.
Thanks for the input.

Seeing how you don't have an elite, and would like to replace Crystal Wave, maybe you could try Shockwave?

I'm thinking your right on that and might be re tooling a bit now.

i might also suggest you drop aura of restoration and whirlwind/tenia winds

What would you suggest I do if I drop the wind skills? Trying to shy away from the typical fire builds. I can't find to many AOE centered on myself skills thats are as cheap to cast.
The concept itself I really like and I've had successes so far, albeit a bit frustrating at times.
Thanks everyone so far for the input.

Eles should not tank
NOBODY should ever tank,
Eles are called squishy for a reason, you will be much more effective with a more traditional nuke/ward/snare/whatever build.
Plus I do not think it needs to be said but you are mising an elite skill.

He's missing e-management as well. And Aura of Restoration is not going to keep you alive.
I'd suggest scrapping the build entirely, reading the sticky, and start again from the beginning.

The Idea for me is not to use the same old cookie build. I don't typically enjoy traditional builds. The idea is to experiment and Find something a bit odd and fun for me that is.
So anyway I switched to fire for now tell I can better fit what I'm looking for.
[Fire Version;OgdToYG/HKYYY4WYIK7B3BHkWAA]
This works really good.
The fire damage is sufficient for Aura of restoration to do it's job for now. This isn't a solo build or anything, and Hero healers can seem to keep up somewhat till I get it how I want it.
Edited: energy should read 12+1+3... this gives me 97 Energy and 417% healing with AoR that you all seem to ate so much :P

Self Heals are only good if you don't need any more healing/protection from other characters to survive.
If you need them, your self heal is useless. It will also be useless when you aren't taking damage.
And 417% of 15 is only 63 health.
[[Aura of restoration] goes well with [[Ether renewal (pve)] + [[infuse health] builds though.

Since this build focuses primarily on destroying mobs, you should compensate skills for that purpose on your template.
[Grasping Earth][GoLE][Eruption][Unsteady Ground][Aftershock](Cast in that order)
Your earth will labor for you, clenching to their feet so they move 50% slower and making sure they stay there for the seconds of chaotic damage. It will leech your energy in seconds, so [Glyph of Lesser Energy] and [Earth Attunement] is a must.
Your tactic will be to shadow step to the middle of the mob, hex them, knock them down if they attack you, and deal destructive damage. If you feel you're taking too much damage than expected, simply run out of the mob. You can easily escape considering they're moving very slow.
Since you are in the middle of a mob, you should be able to take the punishment. Either create a [Ward Against Melee]/[Ward Against Elements] or protect yourself with [Magnetic Aura], [Kinetic Armor], [Sliver Armor], [Armor of Earth], etc.
You should have your monks focused on mostly healing you.
As a result, you should end up with a template similar to this:
[build prof=E/A name="iVendetta Suggestion" box EarthMagic=12+1+1 EnergyStorage=12+1 ShadowArts=3 desc="Cast EA{br}Cast Sliver Armor{br}Deaths Charge to mob{br}Hex them{br}Use GoLE{br}Eruption > Unsteady Ground > Aftershock{br}Have heroes heal you"][Eruption][Unsteady Ground][Aftershock][Glyph of Lesser Energy][Grasping Earth][Death's Charge][Sliver Armor][Earth Attunement][/build]
(Use a 40/40 Earth Set)
You should be able to annihilate them quickly, but if the battle is dragging on, you should retreat a safe distance until your skills recharge.
PS: I've only played an Elementalist for a week now. So please ease up on the criticism. (;

Well since I can't get Unsteady ground yet (not that far along in factions unfortunatly) I've went with this build as a starting point to tweak from, giving all the advice being offered.
Thanks again will keep informed of how it works out:
[New Crusty earth Build;OgdTkYG/nxVw0OFIjWBujHSKAA]
I cast from right to left in order.

I hope you mean from left to right. ;P
I would discourage using [Elemental [email protected]] if you are not running a hybrid. An [Earth [email protected]] would work just as well and it gives you a free Elite slot for a skill such as [[email protected]].

@#$%!
There's some reasons why builds become cookie cutter builds. And why on earth are you using a sup energy rune? More energy isn't better energy management. You also have no armor and only a limited defense, you don't want to make yourself easier to kill.
Think of it like this when you continue to play: the more energy you have, the longer the downtime between battles. Extra energy is only good up until a point. After that point you need to be able to manage the pool you have better to make it last longer and shorten the downtime.
A simple rule for els: attunement spells are your best friend.
Your new earth build is better.

If you still want to go in the midst of the enemy mob get as much health you can. Also consider getting blessed insignia or prismatic for that extra armor and a weapon+shield set just in case.
