Personally don't like MB. The damage is = [flare] and the energy gain is < [glowing gaze]. If you play smart and don't try to spammigate all over the place [glyph of lesser energy][fire attunement][rodgort's invocation][searing flames][glowing gaze] will net you more damage and still not rape your energy pool.
But then you are still using fire damage which others have said is no bueno for 75% of the game. Suggestion, look into air/water/earth builds and do more helping and less nuking.

The reason to play a Mind Blast build is that Mind Blast can easily allow you to churn out non-elementalist skills.
It might be overshadowed these days by Ether Renewal though to be honest.
Searing Flames builds don't let you do that as well, since SF is a very energy demanding skill in itself.

Agree.
If blast was linked to say e-storage or if fire magic was more effective in later areas it wouldn't be half bad. For a pure damage attribute, fire just doesn't cut it outside of the first half of nm in any campaign as far as I'm concerned. And having to spec significantly in it just to get [mind blast] to pay for itself puts it in my list of elites I never use.

No, I do think that running Rodgort and SF is hard on your energy, even if you're using glyph.
As you said, water, earth, and air are much better.

[aura of restoration]
The healing from it is nice, but not the reason you should consider taking it. PvE has a lot of areas with monsters using enchantment removal. With only [fire attunement], you will lose that. [Mind Blast] alone won't be enough to fuel your energy without the attunement, especially with 25 energy spells.
Also, as noted, you won't be doing much damage when you hit HM. My guild ran Bogroot Growths a week ago, and asked me to bring a nuker. I didn't care much, as I didn't need the dungeon, and hadn't played my Ele for a while. I had forgotten how much damage changes in HM though. The skills were doing 50% damage from what they had listed to PLANTS. Consider utility for HM, which will be Air, Earth, or Water Magic generally.
So, to bring it up again, some skills you really should consider for a Fire build in NORMAL MODE:
[aura of restoration][glowing gaze]["you move like a dwarf!"][great dwarf weapon] and probably several other PvE skills.

The whole "this is my build, MINE" thingy is completely ridiculous. I can't tell if it's irony or if somebody can really mean that.
About all the fire builds: Damage is medicore at best. If you want at least some damage then go with [[searing flames]. It still is bad but a lot better then anything posted here.
If you want to be good that get some utility instead of damage. Like earth or air magic. [[blinding surge] is made out of pure awesome sauce and [[unsteady ground] with [[churning earth] simply owns hard mode.

Possibly every guild wars combo has been used. I thought I was being unique by making this.
Turns out, my friend used it a long time ago. He just never plays on his Ele and sticks to his warrior.
