Looking for suggestions here. I am thinking about getting myself some new armor, and was wondering what runes/upgrades for armor would be best for surviveablity and energy managemt?

I am guessing runes of attem, and minor energy storage, and major vigor.

You should be fine for energy with an Elementalist. I'd suggest having all Survivor or Blessed Insignia's.

My Ele has runes of:
Headpiece + Minor of your chosen Attribute, highest Vigor you can afford, Minor E-Storage and two Vitae's.

It also depends on what you plan to do. For standard gameplay (PVE) the above mentioned combo is fine. If you plan to farm then you can keep this basic setup and just buy extra headpieces to swap out depending on the build you use. My ele headpieces are E-storage, fire, and earth. I have water and air but don't use them much. I just swap out depending on what build I'm using. I keep an extra set of armor in storage for when or if I 55 farm, which is rare. If you already have max armor and are just buying new armor for looks then keep you old armor to play around with.

I am mainly a fire ele for PvE.

Fire Magic Headpiece w/ Minor/Major/Sup Fire Magic Rune and Blessed Insignia
Chest Piece w/ best Vigor Rune you can afford and Blessed Insignia
Gloves w/ Minor Energy Storage Rune and Blessed Insignia
Legs w/ Vitae Rune and Blessed Insignia
Boots w/ Vitae Rune and Blessed Insignia

You'll be running, at the bare minimum, [Fire [email protected]], which satisfies the condition to get +AL from Blessed Insignias. Top that off with the fact that if you manage to pull aggro your Monks should be Prot'ing you (yup, more enchants), and that will meet the condition even if you let your Attunement drop or it gets Stripped/Shattered/removed.

If you are comfortable with less health, and are confident in your Monks/your ability to avoid and shake off aggro, you can run with a Sup Fire Rune, if not, run with a Minor Fire.
