Need help with E/P
Hey I recently started up an E/P, once I got thinking about how the various elemental buffs to weapons, would work on the elemental spear throws...
But I am not sure how to go about this, making a nice blend, any help?

E/P is used for [fall back] as a team speed buff in pvp.
The damage output of a fire nuker, or the blinds/ snares and spike damage of water/air eles are going to be far, far higher than a spear with a conjure.

Thanks
Well that could have been a tragic mistake, thanks for stopping me. I will just have to try something more...common.

There's no problem with you wanting to be different. It could be an interesting idea, but it's ineffective. If you want to use a spear for damage AND use the "elemental buff" (e.g. [conjure flame][conjure frost][conjure lightning]) so you should become a P/E. Good luck and happy gaming,

if ur thinking of skills like [ice spear][lava arrows][shock arrow], these do not work with the conjures ;-)

Substitute "effective" for "common."
Be creative, and test your ideas. But at the end of the day, an ele that is relying on his weapon damage is headed for all kinds of fail.

@Above - they're effective enough in RA, so long as you put up your Conjure out of sight from the enemy team and don't give away you're playing to your secondary (eg. holding daggers while in sight of them). The value of surprise can easily score you a few kills, after which the other team has no time to react and so lose. It happened enough times for me that I don't agree that 'fail' is the correct adjective to a properly built E/any weapon-user.
@Topic - if you want to use Spears with Elementalist primary, then your best option is probably Air. You've got a few skills here that a real Paragon cannot use: Ride The Lightning (who wants to see Exhaustion on a Paragon?), Shell Shock -> Chest Thumper provides you almost-guaranteed Deep Wound, and finally Lightning Bolt gives you something to finish off spikes with. If you're feeling brave you can even go Shock for the KD - the exhaustion will kill you, but then if the match lasts longer than about 2 minutes without your team having taken a serious advantage, you're in trouble anyway. The critical skills are Ride The Lightning, Conjure Lightning, Shell Shock and Chest Thumper (and of course Res Signet); you might want to add in Lightning Bolt, Air Attunement, Shock, Remedy Signet or any other skills that catches your fancy and works well for you. Beyond that, I've never played E/P spearchucker and only against them, so I can't say what works and what doesn't.
If you're in PvE ... then there's no reason to use a Spear, as you gain no advantage while giving up all the benefits of Elementalist primary. I had this E/P Thunderclap build before the change to Thunderclap, which worked OK - it's not nearly as effective as standard Elementalist builds, but it didn't fail completely either and it was an entirely different way to play an Elementalist, but after the Thunderclap change it's gone, and there's no reason to bother. If anyone has a good E/any build using weapons, I'd want to see them, it'd be a change of air if nothing else.

A few things to point out here.
First of all, I'm going to assume you're interested in the PvE side of the game, since you're newly registered and most new players play almost exclusively PvE.
Elementalists are advertised as a "damage class" in Guild Wars, but the truth is, Elementalist damage is absolutely mediocre for all "common" builds. If your goal is to do damage in PvE, simply don't play an Elementalist. Almost all E damage skills deal armor-dependant damage, and this loses value a lot quicker than people normally admit, since monsters of high level will take less damage from your so-called "nukes". Why anyone would be so idiotic as to bring three Searing Flames elementalists into HM DoA, and with a BiP along to fix their non-existing energy management just so they could stand there, huffing and puffing and doing absolutely nothing useful, is beyond me. Nevertheless, it happened, and I went on a fair number of those runs. I'm pretty positive that my SS accounted for more than 50% of the team's damage output.
The strengths of the E class lies in elite energy management (see Ether Renewal and Ether Prism) allowing the character to spam just about anything from any class. Of its native skills, the defensive wards and the disabling Water Magic hexes are the strongest cards, and they have decent options for inflicting Blindness. You'll also find yourself with a pretty strong solo-farmer character. If these things are for you, by all means, go ahead.
However, if your goal in PvE is to play a character capable of inflicting serious damage, I'd go with an Assassin or a Necromancer, and of those two, the N is the most versatile. If farming is an interest you can't go wrong with an Assassin.
