New Ele
Heyas.
I'm about to start an Ele (PvE only), my first.. and I was wondering which campaign to start in. (I have played GW since beta on and off so I'm no stranger to the PvE game.. but never played an Ele.)
I have Proph, Factions & NF.. (and EotN), and I am wondering which campaign would be more beneficial.. not for benefits like fast leveling, or story line etc.. but more so, which would be best for "must have" skills if you get my meaning.
I have never played an Ele, and only my Ele heroes have the basic skills and are rarely used. So I don't have a pool of Ele skills to choose from yet.. I basically have to start from scratch.
Should I run through Proph first for "free" skills from quests? Or should I go through Factions or NF first because one or the other have "must have" ele skills for general PvE/Farming.
I am unsure of secondary class but would be likely to go D or A once going through NF or Factions.
But I am torn between free skills in Proph... but Proph Eles are ugly.
Any help for direction?
Cheers
Woofy

Prophecies eles ugly? Hmmph. I fancy the look of my ele from Ascalon.
Be that as it may, suggest Nightfall. Searing flames is capturable relatively early on...Savannah Heat is found much later on in NF if you want to run the triple heat build.

Oh come on.. the female eles have necks like giraffes. Scary stuff.. and the look stupid with those necks in FoW armor.
But I digress.. seeing as I have no ele skills, and my ele heroes only have the skills they "came with".. should I go through prof (probably with a male ele because they have normal necks) just because of the free skills.. or should I go through NF or Factions?
I like the look of factions because of the skills that do damage per second and silver armor seems handy.. And there is also the choice of going E/A?

I took a warrior/ele on my second account through Prophecies and did all the skill quests with her, thinking it would mean I wouldn't need to make an ele or do much PvP to get decent skills unlocked for my heroes. Wrong. :P
There's around 15 useful skills you will get, such as the attunements, glyph of lesser energy, meteor, fireball, a couple of wards, some AoE snares like deep freeze etc. (Take a look at the skill quest page on wiki: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Skill_quest.) You won't get enough of any one element to build a really good bar if you rely on skill quests alone for your skills.
Bear in mind you can change from Factions or Nightfall to Prophecies at LA and do the skill quests from then onwards if you really want the freebies. Also bear in mind the attribute quests - it's much easier to change continents when you feel like it if you start in Factions or Nightfall because you get the quests so early on, whereas you're stuck there until Drok's if you start in Prophecies.
I'd say Nightfall too. Hero skill trainers and sunspear points make it a good choice for getting free skills and PvE skills.

Yeah I think you may have convinced me to go NF.

One more thing...
Night Fall ele's can become ascended (change secondary) professions sooner than in Prophecies (Crystal Desert) and in Factions (Naphui Quarters)(sp???).

I always go with what campaign the characters look best in. The only things that you won't end up getting regardless of you starting campaign is looks (unless you spend RL cash) and the access to the starter quests, so choosing the campaign on things like 'x skill is easier to get' doesn't really matter to me.

A bulk of the Elementalist skills lie in Factions. However, I would recommend starting in Nightfall, getting some heroes, and then heading off to Factions. That is what I am doing with my new Elonian (no, they are not ugly) Elementalist. (;

Yes your best bet would be to start off in Elona for heroes and head off to Factions , then you can finish Proph and EoTN
