Ele Hardmode Builds
I was doing thirsty today with my 4-6 man Vanquishing build, and was told to go fire, which I declined to and got kicked.
OgdUk4lwUPSLQ7ixkIDrl+QnCpCA
AP, EVAS, FH!, Glyph Of lesser E, Mind Bender, Dragon's Stomp, Eruption, Earth Attunement
Is this really inferior to a normal fire build in hardmode? Even with Ural's and Ward of honor I can't even reach base damage in hardmode with fire.
And if they both suck, what do you run as ele in HM? Minus ER heal.

that build is perfectly fine. most pugs (and ele's in fact) think that fire damage in HM is acceptable...which it isn't.
i'd run that build, maybe swap mindbender with YMLAD! for the knocklock against particularly hard-hitting foes like HM ele's.
also i've seen a couple people run glyph of sacrifice with meteor shower for the insta-aoe KD (the damage is minimal, as stated before), which of course gets recharged with AP.
wards also really help (against foes, of stability, etc.) - just make sure to remind your team to stand inside them. a lot of the time you cast it, and then everyone stands outside of the ward...
or you could go water magic for snares, air for condition spreading (although i'd probably leave that to a necro or mes). or like you said do ether renewal heal/bond.

That build looks fine, however, there's nothing wrong with a fire build in HM. Arcane echo'd Savannah Heat, a couple KD's, and burning, plus mindbender to speed things up a bit. That works too.

I am surprised to know that this pug insisting on Fire ele. If it is not used properly the infamous Fire AOEs would scatter the clumping mob around the tank and create serious mob control problems.

Your build is good. Used that build w/ my disco heros when i was filling HM books.
imo. using fire in HM is usually bad. Use it intelligently with a compatible team and it's as awesome as it is in nm.
I didn't take earth attunement though. Switch that skill around dedpending on what/where your fighting. Wards work well there. When I really needed another pve skill I would take out mind bender and use a 20/20 Hct set to help out.

If you are going to play with pugs, I suggest you not ping your builds. Now if it's a guild group, but you are the lone pug filling a spot, then you might need to run what they are trying to fill on the team. (ie. They have a pgon using "They're on Fire" and they want a burner).
But pugs are usually pretty clueless. They only know what they are used to seeing. If they kick you, it's their loss.

Well I'm glad to see it was just the nature of pugs..I figured after 5 groups something was actually wrong with the build, I've ran fire first hand, and with Ural's and r7 Honor ward I barely hit base damage in hardmode. I was pugging because it gets boring doing the same zquest on each char with heroes, at least they're smarter.
Mindbender is there just because it's thirsty river as some way to avoid concussion shot.

It's okay to run fire in HM if there's a paragon with "They're on Fire" like Theo said. But there's honestly not enough reason otherwise to use fire in HM when the earth lineup works so much better.
Though these days, I use my Elementalist as a spirit spammer, which works just as well and adds extra foe liquidizing power since the June update.
Summon Spirits
Spirit Siphon
Painful Bond
Signet of Spirits
Vampirism
Bloodsong
Shadow Song
Anguish
