probably a good idea to swap out sosucky/ele2 obsidian flame for something else
equipement wise, a shield or focus similer to the bison cup, and a axe/sword to draw you up right next to the foes

you could swap out some of the skills for [radiation field] [ward of weakness] [glyph of concentration] etc etc

and armour wise
60 +10 (blessed insig) +8 (shield) and then a optional 5al on weapon (or 30hp)

so 78al and +60/75 health and some absorbtion
or 83al and 30/45health and some absorbtion

its also quite fun to play aswell

if you have someone else to play with, then you could add in some wells, fire pbaoe aswell

I don't see why anyone would want to gimp a bar with a pet, even for a ranger in a lot of builds. A rainbow phoenix is nice for epeen, but you probably won't get a lot of use out of it.

for normal mode pve its fine, did abit of petway today and it was as good as ive ever done it, and that was with low level pets.

ill leave effiecency for hardmode, doa etc etc

Meh, the only way I can see you dishing out enough damage on a pet is through enraged.

Possibly [Call of Protection], [scavenger strike], or some kind of energy efficient skill.

To support your pet, I suggest something with water magic. But even then, you might have trouble with energy.

Wow. I just made a Master of Magic build, and then I see this thread.

[master of magic][aura of restoration][charm animal][comfort animal][symbiotic bond][call of protection][lightning hammer][immolate][steam]

Its not great for animal tanking or nuking alone, but it uses both of them in a way that they don't interfere with each other.

Thread necro for the win! So now that you no longer need charm animal, is E/R still more or less a fail or does it have more merit now? I going to mess around with a couple builds, but I figured I'd see if anyone else is trying it again....

The most significant thing is probably that you save a slot. It's not a revolutionary buff. You're still better off running a normal non-pet build. It's more viable then it was, and it's useable (though anything is useable in PvE), so if you want to mess around with it then it might be ok.
