Default A few Questions

Good day:
I've been looking around the internet for a specific character build for a fire elementalist. I also narrowed down my secondary class to either a necromancer or a monk. Also, I'm not sure what skills to get in the firs stream. I was just going to get them all and then experiment to see which ones are better. I've looked at the wiki as well, and it's making the decision making process harder.

Also good day to you :')
I shouldnt go for second Necromancer, the only 'good'build for that is Ether Renewal Orders. And it's not easy for a beginner to start with. So what I should do if I were you:
Since ur going for fire skill (common name for those elementalist are 'nukers'), you should go for second mesmer. Because u can copy skills with arcane echo (or echo, but imo its an elite skillslot waste). u can copy skills with a long recharge (for instance: meteor shower).
A build that would be easy to handle: (just comming up my head)
1. fire attunement
2. searing flames
3. glowing gaze
4. liquid flame
5. You move like a dwarf
6. finish him
7. mark of rodgort
8. aura of restoration/res signet

note: I didnt use a second profession skill, since in a SF build its not that usefull.. If ur going Savannas heat build, there arcane echo would be usefull

Is it possible to obtain all the fire skills and just experiment which ones I want?

Of course u can do that, its more fun imo. To search for your own build. but some skills of fire list are useless. and, just to remind u, dont put 8 fire skills in ur build.

So in reality, I can't really mess up my character if I were to buy all the fire skills and then choose which skills to use along with my other sub class. Excellent. Thank you very much.

Another build that is fun to play, if you have factions, Is an AP Nuker. It is a nuke build that uses the skill recharge functionality of assassins promise to continue reuse powerful spells with longer recharge times as well as regain a small amount of energy.

Two good options for fire eles are Mind Blast+Rodgort's Invocation and Searing Flames.

Mind Blast builds are very flexible because you get so much energy back by using Mind Blast; you can bring nearly anything, PvE Skills, support skills of your secondary or other elementar attributes or more fire skills.
Searing Flames builds are more restricted because you'll need 2-3 skill slots for energy managment and have little time between two cast of SF to do anything else; also Searing Flames only comes to full power if at least 2-3 SF eles are in your party.

You may want to check this site out for premade builds. It is often useful for ideas or gives you someplace to start when putting them together. But play around with your builds until you find what works best for your playstyle. Good luck!

I think that might be a bit harsh. It's often a good starting point to see what has been tried before and what seems to work for most people. Especially newer players.

Sometimes I see builds people are running and wish they would have found pvx...

But I will agree that the builds on pvx can and should be modified to work for you. And that is where the fun comes in.

The reason why I wouldn't advise new players to go straight to PvX because PvX provides virtually no explanation WHY the build is good. Sure, the newbie might have a good build now, but he/she still have no clue about the game.

It's imo far more beneficial for a newbie to read the fan forums and maybe also participate in some discussions, i.e. you could provide the build you have created so far and other comment on it.

You could request there to be more explanations for the build page on the discussion page or many times the discussion page has those explanations.

Add to that the fact that many of the builds on PvX are NOT good in the first place...
