I don't think that is going to happen. Anet doesn't like ubiquitous skills. I also don't think Anet is going to go through HM and redo mobs either. That puts els in an odd place for balance.

You can't boost their PvE skills too much or they'll become OP. Anet won't buff a PvE skill or two to help them. Anet also won't tweak mobs in HM.

Sort of giving Els HM versions of skills this is going to take a lot of work to do right.

Well it's better for them to know beforehand before devoting 50-100+ hours in prophecies to get to HM and then realizing their class is useless there.

Unless you go PVP (read: Zaishen challenge) as a starting player, elementalist is the weakest starter profession in prophecies once you get out of presearing. Why? All elementalist skills are priced with attunements in mind and in prophecies all you get is crappy Flare + firestorm stuff + ice spikes. Getting skills unlocked via PVP alleviates some of this. The only starting damage skill worth using is Fireball...

In my days as a prophecies ele, there was no scatter so Firestorm/DOT AOEs were semi-usable. Mesmers didn't have any AoE other than cry of frustration either, and it was 15 energy and 20 recharge with no recharge boost from fast cast.

Necros were the strongest core caster: they have soul reaping even at level 1 and in NM with the kills rolling in quickly the energy never plummets as long as you have a few points in soul reaping. The best necro skills also happen to be CORE, rather than Ele's best skills (other than ether Renewal which isn't for damage) which are in Nightfall and tend to be elite.

Not to be rude, but between "your" days and HM, I don't see what any of it has to do with the topic. And not everybody starts a char with Legendary Vanquisher in mind.

Honestly, let's at least try to have some empathy. Just because we've been everywhere and done everything is no reason to belittle a beginner's attempt to tackle what, for them, is a challenging area.

I applaud the fact the OP is roaming around Diessa, whatever the reason. I see entirely too many people who think it's ok to just do the missions. They luck out on a few of them then get stuck badly somewhere between Nolani and Gates of Kryta. Then they get dragged along in various PUGs or they get a run to LA. Then jump over to EotN/NF/Factions, get skills/max armor and 7 heroes. Then they complain how boring Prophecies is and how they had to skip Kryta and Maguuma because it wasn't challenging enough. Then they get stuck again and resort to PvX builds etc. It's an exercise in futility, you might as well watch "let's play GW" on YouTube and save your time and money.

The road to Lion's Arch (from Old Ascalon through the The Breach, Diessa Lowlands and Flame Temple Corridor, Ascalon Foothills, Traveler's Vale, Ironhorse Mine, Anvil Rock, Deldrimor Bowl, Griffon's Mouth, Scoundrel's Rise, to North Kryta Province) is excellent training for any beginner Proph char. I strongly advise anybody who wants to improve their knowledge of the game to try to reach Lion's Arch on foot, outside the missions, just doing the secondary quests (of which there's plenty of), exploring everything and unlocking local outposts one by one.

It's an outstanding experience that will teach you more about the game than simply unlocking a bunch of skills ever could. You learn to plan bars and teams, to plan your fights, to flag henchies, to pull, how to "live off the land" (use local crafters, get money/mats/eq froms drops and chests), how to move around using the map. Most important, you will wipe repeatedly and that's the best source of learning there is. You'll feel like a million bucks when you step through the gate to Lion's Arch once you've done this trip, and your lvl 20 will mean something.

And none of this has anything to do with the profession of the char you do it on. In fact, the "weaker" it is, the best you will learn to make of it.

That is very good advice - a lot of fun too!

I have a few green items an ele could use. PM me in game (Antigone Amidala) and they're yours.

Heh, I almost forgot I made this thread :P I'll probably go back to playing my Ele since I did enjoy it.

The reason I was in that area was because at the time, I wasn't aware that I could do missions to advance in the game, but playing Nightfall made me aware of them. So I was just trying to find quests and stuff.

I did attempt to get to Lion's Arch by crossing the Shiverpeaks, because like I said, I didn't know about the missions. I'll probably attempt that again anyway just for the hell of it

On my first char (the E/Me) I did it because I thought the missions were too hard. xD

That, and the fact I hate having pieces of undiscovered map. I always feel like ANet is hiding something cool from me.

On my second char I did it for the fun and heck of it. Whenever you think your E/Me feels inadequate and underpowered, think of my smiting Mo/N and her faithful henchies. Who took all the quests in Yak's Bend and then wondered why there are so many foes in Traveler's Vale.
